Haley Reinhart's funky a$$ reality project

I agree with you, John, and Tusk, you made such points early on (then threw so much support behind it), and of course in any case we were and are out in force. Historically I think it is maybe this way with a number of musicians, for example some of them could not keep the money together well and had to be helped again and again, but in the end, music came out of it all, which is the ageless benefit, while huge amounts of feelings were invested and ruined and frustrated and ignited and the full swing of things.

In that sense it is interesting to read here that the focus is on her getting advice and support, not necessarily doing all that herself, out of her own shrewd analysis. With a team, she could focus on the music and have some others care about the context. But of course, having a team requires a revenue stream and that requires a product and so the cat meets its tail.

I have been wondering whether a video is the right move or was just a spontaneous opportunity - will it drown in the sea of videos, even if made very well as it will be (did the Free video make a big difference?), or indeed make a mark for her - and if so, what else s required to make it a mark for her? Is it to sell LU more or would it be timed with No.2? Sorry, just random thinking - none of it to criticize or be dissatisfied with HER, she is who she is and needs to do what she wants to do in the way she does things, no use in being supposedly smarter than her. I wonder: how much would we have given if it had been for funding album No.2? How much would have been needed (100K?)? If we really got a full CD? Or even EP? Even with covers? But would that even be good - she needs to keep her material together for the real step into the next level, and is it not necessary that she creates her breakthrough on the real market, proving it works, rather than with crowd funding (which is great for CD production if you want to go the route "don't need to be signed in the age of the internet", but that is not the focus here, here it is about moving toward a breakthrough - if she wants one). So then, maybe a video is indeed the right next step towards that ... I think album 2 and how it comes onto the market and whether there is more around it is key in the end. i.e., all the things we don't know about that (but cf. the exciting hints from himm2!).

The fans did come together big time here, let's see what Haley does. ((Sorry for rambling!))

PS1: In many ways I feel really sorry for her to have to write 100+ lyrics by hand - she should ask if just a few lines would not do it, too - but then I think: hey, for 30k anybody has to work really really hard, so no excuses and no commiseration!

PS2: I have friends who are artists who do not think strategically at all. They just love the joy of doing things, creating something, for the love of it. Success is not a criterion. They'll just put something in the world for the sake of it, and enjoy it. So maybe it is all overthinking it - maybe it is just "hey, let's make a really, really cool video - because we can - I have a song for it". Why not? And we get the perks. And the video.

I get a sense that she is doing this all on her own without any professional management involvement. I think it is a big undertaking she is engaged in. I also think she is very appreciative of what all her fans have done for her (some above and beyond) but agree she could have shown/ interacted more with all that support her.

As the perks start trickling in and the contributers start commenting on receiving them that's when we'll see that Haley really was appreciative for the support. I think if she showed over-involvement it would look like she was scared and begging. I think she did OK... but Kenny Poo knows I'm a "STAN" (?) and that's fine with me.

I think she handled it OK, I also agree too many tweets in regards to raising money would have been irritating. I will stand by my wish that she was more active on social media, calling me out in particular, to tell me she misses me from last fall.

I appreciate you going way beyond the call of duty to help her with this project Tusk, I just have lower expectations of what to expect in return. I even feel guilty that instead of just contributing $95 cash I'm accepting hand-written lyrics, autographed photo and a shout-out on social media (which you already helped me with)...THANKS! The perks are her private thanks to her fans...I don't see her needing to ramble on and on thanking people publicly on a large scale and if the goal was heading toward success how much more prodding did she need to do?

All have foilables and all have strenghs. My first interaction with Haley was at the Cosmopolitan in Vegas. As she walked by, before the first performance, I simply said Haley Reinhart, she turned from her busy schedule came back & treated me like an old friend. I watched her for three nights & between sets she stayed in the area to greet those who wish to spend a moment with her. She would look everyone straight in the eye and give them her full attention. I was touched by the effervesce of her demeonour and the love that exuded from her sweet spirit. So many times I have noticed this amazing asset in her from the way she embraced her fans on idol tour, the young womens conference in New York, girl scouts in Illinois, Rally Idol in Atlanta. In the moment there is nothing more genuine than Haley Reinhart. She is the one of the most loving in the moment Angels you will ever see. Could she do some things better? Couldn't we all?
What does this generation say, I ship her? Something like that, and all you other Haliens, I ship you to......

How is gratitude an over expectation....???.it was a great fan accomplishment they wanted to share with Haley.... How do you help anyone by ignoring this kind of oversight?

I'm ready to give up, if this is what it means to be a fan. I want Haley to have every opportunity, if that means ignoring this type of thing...well I guess I misunderstanding what it means to be supportive..

Maybe Haley's idea of showing appreciation and celebrating with fans is different from yours. Maybe her private thanks through the perks is muh more personal to her than spending 15 minutes on twitter.

I'm not sure if she's right or wrong, but I get the sense that she doesn't view social media as all that personal. She certainly doesn't treat it as such. ( like say, Jessica Sanchez or Christina grimmie do). I have no clue. On the one hand.. You'd think it would help her. On the other hand...Christina and Jessica are no more popular than haley, despite having a large social media platform.

I think she will celebrate the success of her campaign 11.5 days from now when this adventure is finally over. If she could get up to forty thousand by the end of this thing, Sixty thousand if she could sell the two at home concerts, The video would be even more amazing and When the clock counts down to zero, that's when I think she will celebrate with all the confetti and fireworks that are expected.

It's what people do when they care... I showed my appreciation to you by this gesture...or do you consider my attempts at gratitude, something like 'rambling'?

Please calm down my friend. It didn't kill me that she hadn't followed me, it was just a statement and I didn't ask that you intervene but I appreciate it. Why are you taking my words "over-involved" & "rambling" that have nothing to do with anything you've done, personally?

I have never taken my contact with the Reinharts for granted, Himm2 gets to go down the street and have dinner with them, for goodness sakes. We have had more than our fair share of contact..

REMEMBER, many of Haley's fans have NEVER had even a chance to see her live... because I treasure the time I've spent with the Reinharts and Haley, I can never forget the fans who only know Haley through only Idol and videos. I care about Haley's fans too.. These are the fans that support her without what Himm and I have had the fortune to do, I won't forget these fans..

This is what a small gesture can do for a fan, less we forget....
