I thought I'd start a thread all about Jena. Ya know, just for fun.

Since there are no actual Jena fan sites as of yet, my plan is to use this thread to talk about her as she begins her rise to fame and stardom. I have a really good feeling about this kid, and won't be too, too surprised if she actually does make some kind of mark on the industry--or, at least, finds a degree of success within it.

One cool development right off the bat is the discovery that an Official Jena Irene website already exists through Interscope/19, even though she hasn't been publicly signed yet. That tells me that the signing is nothing more than a technicality and for all intents and purposes it is a done deal. She is even talking up "her album" in interviews as if it is inevitable (although I understand that could also be wishful thinking on her part).

Right now, Jena is getting a small break before the craziness of the tour and the endless interviews she will do. Pretty soon things will begin to happen at a fast and furious pace, so it will be fun to get into that all over again. These are the fun times, when life goes at a breakneck pace and anything seems possible. I'm sure on top of everything else Jena will also be working on her album, so her dance card will be more than full. The good thing about her is that she seems ready for the hard work ahead of her. She has a great attitude.

So, come join me if you will. We can follow the Jena Journey together from the ground floor. I think it will be a lot of fun.

What Jena really has going for her - the same thing that Haley had going for her - is that she can really write music.

In fact, she might be smart to use her connections with Haley to be introduced to people at Ole.

I don't have too high of hopes for Interscope and Jena. They just don't know how to market their female singers off of Idol. We've had Pia, Haley, Jessica, and Candice...now probably Jena. Those four girls would be four of the most talented in the music industry, incredibly marketbale (yes, even Candice)...and..nothing. Hopefully the same story isn't true for Jena..but she's talented and ambitious..those things always go well together.

I wasn't sure if I would be able to insert a video here since I have so much difficulty inserting pictures. Anyway, it seems to have worked, so I'm happy. This was this morning on Live with Kelly and Michael. Super performance, Jena!

I'll be amazed if this works for me. So far so good, but I've had pictures work for me before only to turn into a blue question mark later on. Anyway, here is Jena and her date Caleb, as they were about to head off to Jena's senior prom. What began as a joke between them turned into reality.

Here's Jena's TV Line interview with Michael Slezak. She is very charming and well spoken in it. Also, I love that he gave her the flowers for the season, but I wonder why he had promised them to Jessica but "didn't have time to get them for her." Would he have given out two bouquets?

I wondered that as well, although I certainly hope that he didn't renege on the flowers to Jessica, maybe since we hadn't seen the giving of flowers "on air," he made an exception this year.

Season 13's Idols go live tonight in Binghamton

...Jena's future in the music industry is less certain (than Caleb's): She's not signed to a record deal yet, but she's "on hold" with Idol producer 19 Entertainment and will find out after the tour if she'll be signed. In the meantime, she'll try to squeeze in songwriting when she can during the tour.

"We're going to be on a bus the whole time, so it's going to be really hard to write music," she says. "But the whole journey's going to be very inspiring and there's going to be a lot of new song topics to write about."

After the show ended May 21, Jena graduated from North Farmington High School in Farmington Hills, Mich., having studied math, English, forensic science and astronomy during her Idol tenure. Regardless of where her music career goes, she'll be taking online classes at Western Michigan University in the fall.

...Looking ahead, Jena would love to record music with Zedd, while Caleb's dream collaborations include Slash, Matthew Bellamy and Chris Cornell.

"I watched the show when Carrie Underwood was on and a couple seasons after that, but I never thought I was going to audition for any kind of show like that," Jena says.

Wow. The Idol Tour this year is really depressing. The shows are being done in much smaller venues (casinos, fairs, small arenas and the like) and it seems the contestants aren't doing the sort of media blitzing done in past years. The only videos so far are poorly filmed from iPhones and extremely limited.

During the past seasons that I've followed there was always lots of stuff to watch and follow. This year not so much. Sad. Very sad. Oh well, I suppose I'll just wait for Jena's album which may or may not ever come out. How the mighty American Idol has fallen.

Jena seems very goal oriented and ambitious. And she's a capable song writer. I'd expect we'll get original music from her, whether she's signed or not.
