I asked on FB a few days ago if Haley would be on one or more of the tracks. Didn't receive a reply.

RIP Mr. Lamar. You are the reason I've stayed steadfast in the pursuit of my music career. I remember all those times you called me out for not applying myself when I was too busy fuckin around and getting into trouble at school. All those times you stayed after to help me practice my chops when I was too afraid to go home for reasons I seldom shared. Reasons of which you had the balls to face head on and help me through. And that unforgettable moment when after scolding the shit out of me, you looked at me with tears in your eyes and told me, "it's because you're the only one of all my students that has the potential to actually make something of this." Which, despite how tough I thought I was back then, ended up making me cry too. That was 2002. It'd take a year's worth of Facebook statuses to mention all the things you did for me, but I want you to know that not a day has gone by that I haven't imagined the moment I could call you up and tell you I finally made it. You died too soon for me to make that call. I felt the need to share this with our fans because i want everyone to know that the undying ember that fuels my drive was sparked by your influence. Rest in peace.. I have so much love for you and I'll never give up on my music career.

Mmm ... Mr. Lamar made an indelible impression on young Adrian. It's a shame that he didn't have the opportunity to make the call he longed to make. But he articulately -- and elegantly (its scientific definition) -- expressed Mr. Lamar's significance. Would that there were more teachers like Mr. Lamar!

And, yes, RIP, Mr. Lamar.
