RE: Second Label Signing - rumor
Jacob's tweet is so random--it sounds like a big fat hint to me. News could be right around the corner!
Personally, I view the Warners/Atlantic label as good luck. The first cool album I ever bought was called "Songs for Beginners'" by Graham Nash on Atlantic Records. I was 13 and that album changed my musical life. The David Cassidy posters came off the wall in short order haha! I have so many memories of seeing the turntable with the red/green Atlantic label in the middle. I actually still have that album--all these years later. Some of my fave artists were with Warners or Atlantic like CSN&Y, James Taylor, Yes and I know many more!
BTW, I wonder how Jacob knows that Bugs Bunny was a Warner Bros cartoon? I mean --I was watching those cartoons on tv when I was a kid. And weren't they originally made in the 40s?

Jacob might have made that comment after she did a Bugs Bunny imitation.
However, it was also in May 2013 that Alex Wilhelm - Director of A&R, Warner Bros. Records - had dinner with Haley and tweeted "Haley getting her sushi lip on"
stairway2halien noted then "Alex and Haley followed each other on Instagram yesterday around the time he posted the photo."
Himm noted at that time, "in late January this year Patti Reinhart mentioned the Warner Group to me as a possibility."
So it's possible she's had something of a standing offer.
btw, Alex Wilhelm has deleted his Instagram account and his tweets are no longer public.
Yep Miguel, I remember that vine (not the caption though - that's a lot more telling than w/o it) & the dinner w/ Alex Wilhelm. And a few months later I remember some people on Twitter assuming that if she even ever had a deal w/ WB, it must've fallen through.
In following Haley this whole time, I haven't noticed Haley to be the type that throws out a bunch of red herrings. It has been my experience that things tend to take longer than she thinks they will or than fans expect them to take.
In a Nov., 2013 interview, Haley mentioned something about her manager telling her "not to worry about making sure the songs on her album all fit together, just write the best songs she can" (paraphrasing). That really sounds like it came from someone at a label to me.
So my opinion, especially after seeing the caption w/ the vine, and also the fact that she hasn't mentioned anything publically about another label, is that Haley has known who she would be signing w/ for quite some time.

RE: Second Label Signing - rumor
SIA released a single on YouTube that has been viewed 64 million times. It's also been streamed on Spotify 33 million times.
So maybe it's not surprising that the album she released last week reached #1.
But the album only had 52K in sales.
Quote:it’s the lowest sales figure for a #1 album in nearly two years and arrives during the lowest album sales week in US Chart history.
Numbers like that must make it hard to justify signing anyone.
SIA's previous peak positions were #26 (for 2008′s Some People Have Real Problems) and #37 (for 2010′s We Are Born).
"Some people..." sold 20,000 copies the first week --- same as Haley's Listen Up!, which debuted at #17.

For instance, I think singles are more of a big deal than albums. Katy Perry is probably the biggest pop star at the moment, but I think most people would be surprised at her album sales numbers. It's not that they are bad, but they are far under what people would expect.
I think Katy Perry's sales have actually been quite good considering the sales climate of albums today. I believe the last number I saw for her latest album, Prism, was about 1.2-1.3 million. It ain't easy to go platinum anymore.
But then again, I follow Billboard charts, sales, etc., (and I frequent two fan sites for a little-known artist) so I guess I'm not part of the "general public" haha :p

Merc - It varies artist to artist whether they do better w/ single sales or album sales, but they're both important. And like PotterFan said, Katy Perry sells a lot of LPs too.
There are a lot of other ways recording artists make money though & their label probably takes a % of some of these other revenue sources as well.
Concert tickets & Merch Sales
Licensing Fees from commercials, movies, & TV shows
Also artists get paid when their music is played in commercial establishments. That $7500 Touch Tunes donated to Haley's Indiegogo was probably a signing bonus.
Royalties from Youtube & (other sites) - If they allow ads to play B4 their vid. The amount they're paid is based on how many views they're getting.
Royalites from radio airplay. Yep, artists get paid per spin. In fact Keith Phelps mentioned on Twitter that if Youtube paid as well as Radio, everyone (musicians) would be rich. He then said YT counts 1,000,000 views as one spin on the radio. If that's right then IMO YT is getting away w/ murder because there are very few stations w/ 1 million listeners & only a fraction of them are listening at any given time.
Sponsorships & Endorsements - Musical Instrument manufacturers & clothing lines are a couple of common ones & it's not just the mega stars that get them.
TV appearances - Musical guests on talk shows etc., are paid. Some maybe paid more than others, probably IDK. Just like w/ radio airplay, even though it helps them to sell more records, concert tickets etc., they are still the entertainment. They're what's attracting the audience. Advertising is what pays the bills.
That's I can think of right now, but there's probably more.
