RE: "Undone" general discussion (split from interview thread)
Yes John "Undone" such a conundrum, the obscure, yet hauntingly beautiful ballad tucked somewhere in the recesses of "Listen Up;" seldom brought to mind, let alone sung by the princess who created it. Yet, only Haley gives it the panache it so deserves. It must be heart broken, knowing it has 2,500,000 views on YouTube; that's not counting the views given to the artists who cover it, and it is almost as many as the Vevo video of "Free" with all its promotion. "Undone" knows it's Haley's most promising asset to date & there it sits at the end of the bench patiently waiting to take charge of the game. Oh well, sometimes when I think of it, I get a little, for lack of a better word, undone.

Airhigh, what an interesting approach to your very astute observations. Earlier this week I, too, wondered (yet again) what might have happened for Haley's career if she had been more willing to embrace and perform this song. Via the Step Up movie, it found an audience and, thus, had momentum. It does have a "hauntingly beautiful" melody, and, at this point, only Haley has captured and vocally translated that longing, aching message well.
It was the "Year of Adele" and 21. I've read that since Adele's life is happier now, -- marriage, a baby -- she expects that to be reflected in her next album. Will her new music resonate as 21 did? Only time will tell, but there may be something to audiences associating a performer with a "signature" sound or type or .... Perhaps it's unwise to have one's first hit be a ballad, if that's not what you want to be known for the rest of your career.
Speculate as we do, we may never really know why Haley made the choices she made regarding this song -- and, thus, "what might have been."

It's definitely the sharpest arrow in Haley's quiver, capable, yet, to pierce a billion hearts. Que Sera Sera

Yes Airhigh, interesting take on the song. Your words "Hauntingly beautiful" capture something that I have always found compelling about Haley rendition of it on LU. While there are a handful of decent covers of the song, none have the magic of Haley's version. It is difficult to perform the song "just right" and the CD version is the only time I heard Haley nail it.

RE: "Undone" general discussion (split from interview thread)
The Real Music Live version (that we'll never see ) might be better, but the iHeart performance was a pretty solid performance of the song
maybe the best recorded of her singing the song live (mistake free )
"Undone" is near the middle of my ranking of songs on LU, it might be one of my least listened to songs from LU. That being said, I've been lucky enough to hear her sing it live twice and there is no doubt Haley's performance of it, live, you have no choice but be moved by her soaring and stirring vocals.
