That should have been in her deal with Ole...Haliens are allowed to film any of my perfomances.

I'm grateful that Tusk thought to ask that it be taped (thank you, Tusk), and that someone thought of the Haliens last night, even if it was only a snippet.

That said, ole is obviously media savvy and public relations oriented, and this would not be the time to be forgetful/neglectful of Haley's fans. Hopefully, there will be full tapes available at some point in the near future.

I also wanted to mention in regards to her interview, I also am OBSESSED with All About That Bass by Meghan Trainor and sing it in the shower (the car, at my desk, in the kitchen) constantly . I have been listening to that non stop for the past week, it even inspired me to make a Woman Power playlist (with 2 of Haleys songs making the cut). I really hope Haley includes a song in a similar vein, not about size, but about self love and appreciation, in her new EP. Her leaked song Let Yourself Be Beautiful almost touched on what I'm thinking of....not songs like "My man dumped me but I will survive" but more like "I am a self sustained woman who doesn't need your validation"

Buzz... I think Patti Reinhart considers herself a Halien and she was in attendance with my Camera so I'm anxious to see if she was able to capture anything that I can post to YouTube when I trade her Angie's Fish for my camera Sunday night. But I may regret not having her take my best camera and an extra battery.

Monsieur Himm, you are to be applauded for this find! Perhaps I bailed too quickly on Meghan's vid, but I just didn't hear anything that reminded me of "music" on it.

The video you found is a great "tongue in cheek" version that includes a beautiful young woman "proving" that she can be "all about that bass" and also demonstrate that she can be an appealing young woman playing an instrument traditionally not associated with women. I'm thrilled to see Esperanza, Bridget Kearney (of Lake Street Dive), and this woman show the world that women can play these instruments and be really good at them. (I will also say here that I think Bridget frequently "overplays," but I truly understand why.)

I was stunned when, as a sophomore in (an uber liberal/progressive) college I first encountered the sexism that existed in the music world. It was years ago. I do hope/believe this has changed -- slowly, and, perhaps, not completely but I think a slow, steady progession has been made.

Thus, when I see women like Esperanza/Bridget playing an instrument even less associated with women than a trumpet, I'm truly pleased! While NUG and I may approach the issue differently, the underlying factor remains the same.
