Ole signs Haley to New Worldwide Deal! New EP!

I saw Haley in the local newspaper today!! I was on my lunch break at work and took a picture of the paper. It made me so happy

Since this announcement was made, there has been this "whisper" of a memory of something I couldn't quite pull to the surface. This morning it came to me.

At this point, this theme song is dated and probably seems really corny. Yet, I think the lyrics describe Haley (from the descriptions of those who have met her) as much as they did the character MTM portrayed.

YES that is very true! I used to watch the re-runs of that show every day (I like all of the 60s tv shows) and I always meant to say how much that song describes Haley's personality and how we think of her.

Especially "You can turn the world on with your smile, You can take a nothing day and certainly make it all seem worthwhile"

I didn't quite get what people concluded.
"Was jazz in ya bones" lyrics by (with) Haley or was it all the sonic boom guy?
(I kinda liked that song)

Am I missing one or two?

Of course just because she writes a song doesn't necessarily mean she/they would choose to put it on an ep.

I think the David Block stuff is just a fanciful D'alliance, Haley checking it out. I'm not sure what Block's goal is, I think it's possibly an intersection that might not cross with Haley again. Haley said she wrote the lyrics, but since Block put it out on iTunes sans Haley, I doubt it would go on her EP

At Room5, Rachel and I talked about the upcoming EP, Haley said she'll have at least six songs on her EP (Rachel quipped, hopefully you get 10, like Mark did on his EP)... Haley laughed, (paraphrasing) "Yaaah... what's up with that?" LOL

Anyway, Haley said there'll be songs you've heard and a couple new ones....

My interpretation is songs, we haven't heard yet.

I say Better and My Cake will certainly be on the EP. I think Love is Worth Fighting For is the next level of being on the LP.... I also think "Listen" has a fair chance of making it on the album too, since it was used to advertise the award winning James Cameron documentary.....

That's 4, leaving room for the "couple new ones"

*I thought maybe "Black Velvet" would make it, but it's been 'in the can' for months, almost forgotten... I doubt it would be added as a 'throw in'

*I don't think SMYM will be on the album... even though it already has a ready made video, from the beginning, Haley's said it was a song that got Danniq excited about an idea to make a video for, then Haley decided to use it to dedicate to her fans #Haliens in keeping with Dannig's 'out there space video'.... I don't think it might've seen the light of day had Haley not played it for Dannig...

The video does give it a slightest chance of being promoted, though. A long shot, but not, no shot

She must have co/written upwards past 40 songs at this point, no reason to rehash or put out songs we already know. Haley's going to want to make an impact with this EP IMO

I'm guessing Knock Me Out is a front runner since she said, "This is, or this WILL BE a new one..." at room 5. Between the 2 "old" new ones, Cake and Better, I much prefer Cake and if it's between those 2 I hope it's Cake.

I prefer Cake over Better too, but I have to wonder, what is Cake without the musical/scat breaks? It's my opinion, Cake was created to be a "Jam song" in a concert, which has suited her amazingly, the musical solo's and scats she's produced out of the performances of Cake are some of the most memorable, each with it's own personality, in large part because of the in built free style opportunity.

I remember 1st time I heard it @CityWalk... I wasn't sure what to think... I wasn't immediately blown away by it. Since then I'd say Cake is the song I watch different performances of it the most... The BGDays version, The CityWalk Debut, The Stageit "GingerBread Cake" version, The Funkified Keith Phelps version at the party, she's done so many memorable performances of that song

What will the studio version do to compensate for missing that improvisation? Can't wait to see what they come up with

As far as Better, that lyric, "So long, I felt so weighed down, anchors a way now, I'm finally letting go" for some reason sticks to me the clever word play

There are songs, where a specific lyric just crystalizes the song for me. In Better, it's that lyric that perfectly summarizes the emotion of the that song as well as being lyrically clever

I think Better is ready made to be on the album

I like Better a little more than My Cake, but it's close. They're both great songs, but I like the lyrics more in Better. I'm still wondering who the inspiration was for those lyrics. I prefer both of those to Knock Me Out though. Her vocals are great in KMO, just a bit slow and repetetive for me.
