RE: Haley joining PMJ for part of European tour
My Dad was a HUGE fan of the Hollies in England (their most recognisable member, Graham Nash, who left the Hollies to be the "Nash" in Crosby, Stills & Nash (& Young). They were considered a 'super group' in England...
I get that artists are due what they are due, but honestly, it can't be easy being a songwriter, what Haley wants to make as the foundation of her musical career, because of all the potential for legal action because a song might have a few instances of similarity with a song you wrote.
I mean what's the difference between paying homage and being influenced by past artists you admire, and out and out plagiarism?
I feel bad for musical artists of today, for that reason. Just like there's very rarely, a 'new story to be told', to navigate song writing w/o having to be sued for plagiarism is a significant and sometimes unfair obstacle
I mean, I hear an 'Everly Brothers" influence of "All I Need is the Air That I Breathe" in the chorus
Think of all the old bluesmen of the past, how many songs in modern music could be said to have taken from their music?

Here is a mash-up of the two songs.
This was a very interesting video of the combination of the 2 songs

I agree, Tusk and this isn't the first time I've had that thought. Really, the surprise is that it doesn't happen more frequently. There are twelve notes in a chromatic scale, and then you repeat. The octave may be higher or lower, but the notes are the same. Then there are 13 major keys. If you add in minor keys and the modes, the complexity level increases, but it takes quite a bit of musical sophistication to take on, particularly modes, so we rarely hear it in popular music. Then, of course, there is the fact that, in popular music anyway, there is a certain chord progression that is, if not taught, then certainly planted in minds to one degree or another. Again the surprise is that a later song may (very coincidentally) strongly resemble an earlier one (known as plagiarism, when financially useful to some)? Given that many "writing/performing" pop music may not have much musical training, it's truly amazing that this doesn't happen much more frequently.

1500+679=2179. I see that you have 2844 subscribers now. So, in less than three months you have picked up 665 subscribers if my number are right. That would mean you've been picking up subscribers at a rate of well over 200 a month this year - about double the rate from the last six months of 2014.
Just hit the 3,000 subscriber Plateau
So if this is right, I gained 821 subscriber since Jan 2? ... wow
One of the videos that have had a boost because of the PMJ is Haley's Hotel Cafe "Sitting on the The Dock of the Bay", latest comment ...

Kinda reminded me of Dolly Parton here. She's awesome. Check her out on PMJ.
This Turbo boost to 3K subscribers is directly attributed to PMJ, cool that there's a place for PMJ fans to check out more Haley performances

I only subscribe when I like the overall content, I suspect most people are like that. So, kudos to you Tusk. PMJ may have brought them to your door, but the quality and quantity of the product was the reason they subscribed.
