RE: CREEP - PMJ studio version with HALEY

Creep now has 4,151,322 views.
Works out to about 74K views in just over 24 hours.
24 hours later...
About 62K views today
Probably a small uptick in view rate in the past few hours (after Creep performed on The Voice). Tomorrow's numbers should tell that tale.
BTW Kimberly's Creep is now at #13 on the overall iTunes chart.
Makes me sad to think where Haley's version could be sitting on the charts if it had this kind of spotlight. And for Kimberly/Christina the lesson of how many more purchases and votes were there for the taking if only a little (10 seconds??) of deserved credit had been given.

RE: CREEP - PMJ studio version with HALEY
Kim took Creep and made it a jazz song. Which, someone thought that was a good idea..likely based off of PMJ's popularity.
However, if you actually listen to the performance and studio..it's not a thing like Haley's and PMJ's. I said in the "Haley verses the world" thread that if you cover Creep and lose the spirit of it, it almost angers people. Haley and PMJ's cover doesn't do that. Kim's does lose the spirit of the song.
But Kim overkills with her vocals, her note choices are completely different from Haley's (and strays way to far from the melody, IMO.) and the actual arrangement of the song is way way too much. There's blasting background singers (Almost like a doowop) The song lacks in dynamics...it's just not executed very well. (Which is why I say, I think it's likely that a producer said "why don't you do a jazz version of the song" because they knew it was popular, and Xtina came up with the arrangement..and it didn't work out nearly as well.)
The funny thing is, Kim's voice doesn't have the finesse to pull off a jazz version of anything. She's got soul and rock covered, but her voice is like a bulldozer. So she would have been much better off doing the actual song.

✌?️Tonight's rendition of #Radiohead's "Creep" was inspired by #HaileyReinhart 's version of the song. What a voice!!! ❤️❤️I Thank you Hailey for inspiring!!!! And thank you all for the love! If you want me in the top 6 - call, text, vote on the app, vote online, vote on Facebook and BUY the song on #itunes. Can't do this without you!!!! See below! ?PURCHASE: Creep (The Voice Performance) - Single by Kimberly
What would they gain by 'admitting' this if it wasn't true....?
PMJ's song hasn't been out a month, I don't know how you can't see that this was a pathetic attempt at taking away the inertia of talented folks like Scott who earned what he got... To many folks, this is Kimberly's cover... not Haley's...
There's no interpretation here, Kim outright admitted it ... I don't have to wonder about some mysterious producer getting Xtina to write an arrangement that happens to sound like PMJ's....
I don't get why you insist on making excuses for plagiarists who admitted only after being called out on it...
I don't understand.. you've seen how much effort Haley's made from the beginning, how she was 'wronged' by Idol, how she's worked to build relationships to put her where she is, using her talents and even despite them admitting it you still insist on defending a HUGE corporation who says they are about finding Talent but all they promote is their Super Star Judges who should know better about plagiarism?
I'm sorry but I'll side with the artists who rightfully believed they've been wronged

RE: CREEP - PMJ studio version with HALEY
Tusk, because she got blasted on Social Media for it. She gave credit once people brought it to her attention.
I'm not saying it was a coincidence, but I'm saying it's entirely a possibility that Kim had no idea (and even likely) where the idea came from until afterwords. Notice she doesn't even mention Post Modern Jukebox when giving credit. She just mentions Haley because Haley's fans went after her.
I mean, what is she supposed to say "no, this jazz interpretation of the song Creep that is immensely popular is my coach and producers own original idea and had nothing to do with the recently extremely popular other jazz interpretation of Creep that I had no idea existed until I got bombarded by nasty tweets." Of course the individual who came up with the idea knew of the PMJ/Haley version.
My point is that it likely wasn't Kimberly, and probably not even Xtina, so blasting Kimberly for it..particularly when..despite it being a Jazz interpretation likely inspired by PMJ and Haley, it was clearly not the same song. Isn't the right thing to do. As she might not have been aware until after the performance that PMJ/Haley's version even existed.
She wants to win over voters and be well liked. She's not going to intentionally do anything to piss people off. I am not defending The Voice. I am defending two individuals (Kimberly and Christina) who likely weren't aware they were taking someone else's idea. It was The Voice's job to make sure that credit for the inspiration was given.
And I'm also defending Haley here. People get annoyed at fanbases that start problems. That's how artists get polarizing and become annoying. We don't want Haley and her fans to have that reputation. Be respectful.

Sometimes it is what it looks like, no need to make scenarios about producers and how we think it played out... (04-28-2015, 08:25 AM)Miguel Wrote: Alright, time to let it go. It was let go...I didn't bring it back up

I am respectful, of the artist, not the faceless corporation who could care less about artists
Not when a huge corporation steals the work of an artist without giving credit...
This is not something done by a naive...the voice knows better, xtina knows better, Adam knows better, Blake knows better. Period
I send out a handful of tweets calling them out for stealing and I'm the bad guy? Didn't know I had such power

Attack the corporation, not the artist. The latter has fans and attacking her, or her performance, only invites reprisals against Haley.

I did "attack" the corporation, as well as the artist who failed to give credit, especially when the judges implied that it was hers...would have been a good time to mention it
The corporation doesn't care...or else it would've stepped out by now and took the heat instead of letting kim take it...
Again, I dropped it, I didn't bring it back up
