I am new to this. Are they going to be giving these videos away for free and they figure that will get people to buy her single and CD? I don't know how this business works. Maybe someone can explain it to me.

I'm no expert either, but I think they stream the videos on YouTube and news sites to get publicity.

That's not much different than playing songs on radio or, in the old days, videos on MTV. Except that today some people are technically adept at capturing the video and doing what they want with it for free.

The labels apparently regard that risk as reasonable given the exposure it generates.

If they treat "Free" like "Baby, It's Cold Outside" they will also make the video available for purchase.

^ I made a post in the comments long buried now. The man whose parents built the diner owns it. They opened it in 1947. He ran it from 1969 until 1989 when he closed it because it was too much work. He makes more renting it out for video/movie productions because he doesn't have the expense of operating a restaurant. He rents it out 50 - 65 times a year and gets $2500 to $3500 a day.
