No. I was just scrolling and facebook does that thing where it mutely autoplays videos and I just happened to see the words Haley Reinhart in the bottom corner of the video. It was a lucky coincidence.

That would be a nice surprise.

The FB share comments on that page are weird. There are repeated instances of the same person saying the same thing. It might be a glitch due to the load. The videos they posted immediately before or after CHFIL have fewer than 30K views.

This emotional and romantic ad for Extra Gum features a new cover of the classic Elvis Presley love song ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’.

This latest version is being sung by the 25-year-old US songwriter and vocalist Haley Reinhart. The Illinois native is probably best known for finishing 3rd in season 10 of American Idol, back in 2011.

Reinhart’s debut album ‘Listen Up!’ reached number 17 in the charts and is available to download from iTunes and Amazon. Her cover of Can’t Help Falling in Love however, has not currently been released as a full length single for purchase.



More recently, Haley Reinhart has been performing with Scott Bradlee’s jazz/swing group Postmodern Jukebox, singing on cover versions of such songs as Meghan Trainor’s ‘All About That Bass’, The White Stripes ‘Seven Nation Army’, Britney Spears ‘Oops!… I Did It Again’, The Cardigans ‘Lovefool’ and Radiohead’s ‘Creep’.

The original recording of Can’t Help Falling in Love was made by Elvis in 1961 and featured in the film ‘Blue Hawaii’. Since then the song has been covered by many different artists, perhaps most notably in 1993 by the UK reggae band UB40. There it was released under the slightly longer title of ‘(I Can’t Help) Falling in Love with You’....

The veiw count on You Tube hasn't updated in a long time. I shared the FB post on my timeline and have 3 likes in just a few minutes.

Someone uploaded the video to their Youtube with Haley's name tagged on it. Since the Extra Gum Youtube ad doesn't have Haley's name attached to it (to search for), some of the traffic is going to the newly uploaded video.... Since people are aware of it and are searching for it using Haley's name, they aren't taken to the Extra Gum Youtube, but to the account that just uploaded it. You can see some people have been tweeting out the 'fake one'

Being a gum commercial the video has all kinds of baggage different from the usual on music videos. The anti-commercialism/anti-corporate (probably with the exception of Apple) crowd was warming up on a post of the video on Reddit.

Too bad the gum is sugarless, I'm allergic to Aspartame and Sucralose. I needed a tissue for this commercial. It is wonderful storytelling, satisfyingly emotional/feel-good, and has the perfect background song for it. Thank you.

That's why I was thinking it's possible they might put this on the EP (hopefully as a 'bonus' instead of 'replacing' a new song 7 songs total)... Ole signed the deal to do the EP w/ Haley before her collaboration w/ PMJ was even a possibility.

Given what we've heard 'might' be on the EP, doesn't sound like the songs that are consistent w/ what has hit most w/ Haley's PMJ fans...re: "At Last" "Dream a Little Dream of Me" and all her vintage PMJ covers. I'm sure Ole's noticed the viral nature of Haley's voice on the more classic sounding songs.

I'm hoping this is added to help juice or bring interest to the EP from the fans of Haley's more 'old time' sounding music, the proverbial bait to give a listen to Haley's new songs

While I don't have a clue about the ins and outs of the issues you take on, it does seem that this song and commercial is likely to have influenced the timing of the EP, and perhaps the content (along with the PMJ success). Things have changed a lot for Haley from the end of 2014 when the EP got rolling. This could be a stand alone, separate release that will not be associated with the EP. If that is the case they would still want to delay the EP to let this one have time in the spotlight.
