Since Haley was hired to sing this song for the commercial, I imagine they wanted her to sing it a certain way. Soft and tender, not overpowering. Sing in a style that sets a certain tone and mood to complement but but not distract from the visual elements of the video. That's my guess.

Last night Harry said they got a preview of the audio. The Wrigley Ad People specifically asked Ole' for Haley Reinhart and traveled to the studio to get the results they were seeking. They asked for it to be sung "sparse" which I guess means "tenderly". It fits the mood perfectly...unlike the vocal gymnastics that Jena Irene & Christina Grimmie added to show off their stuff. It was just Haley's voice and Casey's piano...nothing else...pure and simple.

Thanks Steve. "Sparse" sounds right. I think she nailed the sound.

Keeping the vocal at that soft and delicate level is a whole different thing, which Haley did masterfully. I'm also delighted that Haley had a chance to show off the tender side of her voice.

I am too. I imagine "the Growler" surprised some people. Heck, I bet the agency people got a better result than they expected. They knew she was a heckuva singer from her work with PMJ, but they hadn't seen anything quite like that. The final result is a great addition to her repertoire.

Should've checked my email yesterday morning, I sent Harry a happy John Lennon's Birthday email and congratulated him/Haley on the video, basically he said the same thing, used the word 'sparse'.

"What a nice ad. They were asked to make it a sparse as possible and it worked out nicely. It should be hitting TV soon."

The views on my YouTube have levelled off since the 7NA activity, but as expected almost doubled the next two days after the commercial's release, not as big a jump, yet, almost as much as a Haley/PMJ video. I expect that might change once it gets on TV

"It worked out nicely" is quite the understatement. I can't image how proud and happy Haley's parents and sister are right now. I am so giddy waiting for this to start showing up on TV sets. It should be like the past 4 days all over again as a whole new audience gets to heard this beautiful music enter their consciousness.

The viral insanity has been a nice bonus since the commercial is not in broad distribution. It is starting to settle down but with the push from the advertising side of things coming the world should be saturated with Haley's lovely voice for many weeks.

Harry did add that when Haley did the final take, the Wrigley Ad People exclaimed: "THAT'S PERFECT!! Exactly what we were hoping for!" They were blown away. He sounded pretty sure it would be a Super Bowl Commercial...and yes...it should be on TV in a trimmed down version soon.

I agree Haley did it masterfully. For me Haley just doesn't sing her voice is like an instrument almost - I don't know how to describe it really but I love it. I was thinking today that I read somewhere here a long time ago that Haley said she was not a ballad singer, when you think about it Undone, Creep and now this - well really resonate with people. She can sing just about anything and pull it off, maybe that is why I lover her and her style?

Well said. It may be that, despite what she may think, Haley's greatest commercial "success" may come from ballads, or songs that tell stories. I've always thought that not releasing 'Undone' as a single was a missed opportunity-- at least from a financial perspective. Haley's vocal talent is so phenomenal that I think she'll always get the strongest public response from songs that showcase her voice, raw emotion, and musical sensibilities-- witness the incredible response to "Creep" and her latest 'project' (I love the way she 1st tweeted it).

I absolutely LOVE the direction Haley is heading with her career. A former business partner of mine always pushed "raindrops make oceans", and that's exactly where Haley is heading. She is setting herself up for long-term success-- and more importantly for us Haliens, the ability to control her own destiny. The Extra Ad will start airing on TV, and as I write this I just saw the Chase Ad aired while watching an NFL game.

I don't know why or how the 'stars are aligning' for Haley, but they certainly are. The upcoming single and EP will most certainly be more successful because of a simple gum Ad . If I were Ole, I'd be all over Hollywood now. Haley should sing the theme song for the next Disney romantic movie....

As expressed by others I can't WAIT until CHFIL hits TV - the perfect way to introduce so many new people to her essential sound. If the success of this advert carries over to TV (and it should) I think it could be a game changer for Haley's career in many ways. I would think other advertisers would take notice and want more of the sound that is only hers.

Maybe I'm just being overly optimistic, but I'm a Halien!
