Wrigley’s Extra and Energy BBDO have found a winning formula for the brand’s US TV ads – highlight the little things in life that mean a lot. Two years ago, there was "origami", the tale of a father realising how much he means to his daughter when he finds a box of the swans he’d made for her out of chewing-gum wrappers. The new spot, "Sarah & Juan", focuses on a more traditional love story, once again tied together with gum wrappers. But it packs one hell of an emotional punch, helped along by a soothing version of Can’t Help Falling In Love. It’s a shame UK viewers only seem to get the Extra ads where Ashton Kutcher argues with a CGI pizza.

Advertising Age: Extra’s ‘The Story of Sarah & Juan’ Gets 74 Million Views in One Week

The video, out of Energy BBDO and directed by Pete Riski of Rattling Stick, racked up 74 million views in its first week on the chart. Meanwhile, a new Squatty Potty video, which explains the use of a toilet footstool with prince and unicorn characters, earned 24 million views in its first week. Samsung has two videos back on the viral chart after a hiatus: "#OptionsIncluded" and "It’s Not a Phone, It’s a Galaxy," in spots three and five, respectively.

The Story of Sarah & Juan beat it nearest competitor 3 to 1 in views.

The Sarah and Juan ad is very sweet, of course. Maybe I'm biased because the soundtrack is Haley Reinhart's sweet version of the song "I Can't Help Falling In Love" the great Elvis Presley standard that was sung during my wedding three years ago.

Sorry if not all the links specifically mention Haley but I find it is interesting to note how well the ad is doing among its peers. Can't wait for next week to see the reaction of people to Haley's voice randomly popping up in their day to day worlds.
