Not my cup of tea but, strangely, I didn't hate it.

I'm imagining the Wrigley commercial, with a funeral line of black-hooded ashen-faced mourners filing through an empty gallery, past a decrepit corpse propped up and offering his barely-attached bony hand -- still clutching pieces of Extra gum. Sorta makes me wanna weep.

Sadly, though, I don't think Haley gets the gig.

I just think it's similar circumstances, the ad agency wanted a beautiful cover of "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You." It's clearly based off of Ingrid's version. Ingrid is an Independent artist, meaning once again, we have an example of a large corporation taking a song arrangement from "the little guy."

Do you really think the ad agency would tell the prospective vocalists to listen to Ingrid's version and give them a sample like that?? Or even something with the same feeling?. Personally I doubt it. What's more likely to me is that either Casey or Haley had previously heard Ingrid's version and decided to try something similar. It's also entirely possible they sat down at the piano and worked it out together, never having heard Ingrid's version. How much different can tripped down, piano-only, versions be? Haley's vocal stylings are completely different to me.

I think an ad agency, particularly one with a music department, is going to provide some guidance. "We're looking for something more like this, than this, but with..."

Yea definitely.

I will say, I think Ingrid's version is kind of iconic. But it's not iconic in that everyone has heard Ingrid sing it. I think everyone has heard a cover similar to Ingrid's, it's just that Ingrid was the first one to come up with that arrangement. So it could have been that the Ad Agency didn't realize it was Ingrid's cover, but knew that was the style they want.

On a side note, I FINALLY saw the commercial today. It was in a sports bar, and Haley's voice filled up the restaurant.
