Watch Courtney Love Spectacularly Cover Radiohead’s ‘Creep’

Among those special surprise guests was Perry’s on/off collaborator Courtney Love, who covered Radiohead’s “Creep” while her occasionally estranged daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, looked on. It was an intense moment, and in many ways, “Creep” seemed like the song Love was truly born to sing. (Video below contains profanity.)

Although Love made a joke onstage that she felt like she was on American Idol, her performance was hardly a glossy production. This was a completely raw and unhinged moment, with the grunge goddess appearing barefoot on the tiny stage, her hair loose and wild, her lace dress riding up her thighs.

Even on a star-studded night when Christina Aguilera covered John Lennon’s “Mother,” the Cult’s Ian Astbury did David Bowie’s “Moonage Daydream” and the Doors’ “Break on Through,” Juliette Lewis sang AC/DC’s “Dirty Deeds,” and Perry herself belted a trio of Led Zeppelin classics, Love’s fiery cover was a standout. (Cyrus was expected to perform, but was unable to make it back to L.A. from Australia in time.)

Love’s rendition joins an illustrious list of famous “Creep” covers, including Haley Reinhart & Postmodern Jukebox’s viral version, which has racked up more than 13 million YouTube views, and Prince’s live performance of the ‘90s classic from Coachella 2008, which recently resurfaced online to great fanfare.

Who knows. I was surprised as heck that Christina Aguilera knew of Haley's version. Even if it wasn't referenced, she might know of it.

My guess is that it was a reference to Haley's version since it's become the recent 'hit' incarnation of the song w/ tens of millions of hits on Youtube, Facebook, seen on TV via the Wrigley's ad and now being heard on the radio... (perhaps a 'joke' at the expense of Haley in regard to what many musicians feel about those who compete in 'singing competitions')

I think Lyndsay is partial to the grunge/rock sound, which Love was at the center of 'back in the day' having been married to Curt Kobain, so in that respect and genre, 'spectacular'

i love the original, and as a fan of the original, I must say, this rendition is awesome! Her voice is the perfect mix of rock and jazz.

If your voice and act wasn't so fucking perfect., I would say that sax and trombone are the best part of this song. Then you hear the bass and the piano just telling us "wait wait, the best part is coming"and you have to just throw your hands up and clap cuz its art after all.

This is my favourite video of Haley's with PMJ. I'm not too enamoured with the original so for you guys to do this (and as a singer I always concentrate on the vocal - can't help it) and for me to actually love your version is just - wow!
