Her upcoming self-titled EP is the ideal introduction to Zella, both as an artist and as a woman. The four-track collection showcases her Western Bohemian persona, juxtaposing the crunching drum machines and menacing electronics of its single, "Sweet Ophelia," with chiming keys and soaring melodies in its lead-off track, "East Of Eden." Though sonically diverse, this debut encompasses all that the musician is. Each song comes straight from the heart as she sings about her love of Arizona ("Compass"), the strength of women ("Hypnotic"), and what it's like to grow up with a rebellious soul.

I got sucked into this show on MTV a week or two ago called Camp’d Out: I’m Going to Rock Camp. It’s one of those MTV true life documentaries and this particular one was about a camp that teens go to to learn to be rock stars. The documentary centered around a select handful of “campers” and it was Zella Day who stood out heads and shoulders above the rest of her fellow wanna be rockers.
