RE: Jason Scott's PopDust interview with Haley
(03-02-2016, 08:47 PM)InItToWinIt Wrote: Nice interview. I'm not at all surprised that there is no label involved. Haley and Ole have done the work to put the songs together, to put the album together, and to put the spotlight on Haley through PMJ and the commercials, and other endeavors. CHFIL provides an excellent sedge way into the album's release (it could go gold soon around the time of the album's dropping). The need to bring in an additional middleman is probably not worth that additional cost that middleman would want to receive.
The things that a label would help at this point are touring, promotion and merchandising, that all takes time. #Better has been 'warming up' in the oven for quite some time now, there comes a point that 'the timing' will be missed. Involving a label at this point of #Better's trajectory would at the very least mean delay, which it seems is not negotiable. I think in Haley's mind #Better is part of the past, she's ready for the launch.
Ole probably had some idea to sell Better ready to act on as well. Haley uses the word 'organic' often when speaking about #Better, and much of her 'journey' has an 'organic' quality to it. This might be where she relies most heavily on her gut, he ability to sense where she needs to go, where she needs to be and what fits.
I think how Haley/Ole evaluate their progress in the making of #Better might help inform who they end up signing w/ for Album #3
(everyone has different perspective on whether something is a success, Haley's and Ole's success comes from investment and waiting for the investment to mature)

RE: Jason Scott's PopDust interview with Haley
It is interesting to me that they decided to go with a full album even though she's not on a label.
It's something I'm happy about, but it is interesting.
It seems like Haley wants to release something that is purely her for the fans who have waited for it. It's wonderful that she keeps that in mind. And if she wants full control over this album, it probably is better to do it with just ole, as I'm sure her label will want some input. (Whether it's just the writers they want her to be working with..or producers they want her to be working with..or choice in single..etc..)
And it seems like she just has a "gut feeling" about this record, and is ready and set to release it, and isn't interested in the time and arguments that would come with a label. So a label is something to look at for her next project. (Maybe )
The best part of this article though, is reading how Haley has changed as an artist. She is one of the most talented singers I've ever heard, but it's nice to see her digging into other areas in her music to get just the right message and sound out. (Song writing and production)

RE: Jason Scott's PopDust interview with Haley
This is probably one of the best Haley interviews released within the last couple of years.

RE: Jason Scott's PopDust interview with Haley
To be fair, it also depends on how much Haley is willing to divulge. It is a good interview, more substantive but he's also the recipient of some good timing too... we've got a target that's rapidly approaching.... Haley has to be full of anticipation to finally get this off the ground
That we're getting a slightly clearer look at what she has in store, it's actually pretty exciting
No rest for the weary though, Scott's on his way to the UK, is Haley far behind?
I imagine she's probably being updated on the album progress and also apparently squeezed in some song writing...

RE: Jason Scott's PopDust interview with Haley
Very interesting interview and nice to hear more concrete info on new album rollout. Without a major label pushing and promoting the LP my expectations have adjusted somewhat as significant radio play beyond CHFIL or major media exposure (e.g. Ellen, Jimmy Fallon) would probably be a nice surprise but not likely.
IMO, this is just fine. She is building a career and needs to get new music out to her fans!! If the situation which fits her best arises, she can pull the trigger with a label. In the meantime, continue to write, perform and grow her fan base and who knows what other opportunities will come up in commercials, voice-over, TV, etc.

RE: Jason Scott's PopDust interview with Haley
I think it's admirable that she turned down labels in order to make sure that her album was the way she wanted it, so she could give fans what they deserve. So many artists are more concerned about money a contracts, but it's nice to see that Haley is more focused on her artistry and her music.
