Singer Christina Grimmie is in critical condition after being shot following a concert in Orlando, Florida, on Friday night, police said.

The singer, a former contestant on "The Voice," and members of the band Before You Exit were signing autographs following a concert at Orlando's Plaza Live when a male suspect shot Grimmie, Orlando Police Department spokeswoman Wanda Miglio said at a news conference.

Grimmie's brother tackled the shooter who then fatally shot himself, Miglio said, calling it a "very tragic event."

Singer Christina Grimmie has died at 22 years old.

"It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord," her publicist tells E! News.

"She was shot at her show in Orlando and, unfortunately, didn't survive the gun shot wounds. We ask at this time that you respect the privacy of her family and friends in their time of mourning. I vividly remember binge watching Christina Grimmie when I was 9, she had a relatively small amount of subscribers and she used her webcam and a sucky microphone to record her covers, and i watched her grow into someone with so much potential, but now that potential is gone
