Okay, I have a question. Both the Seattle and Portland venues are accessible to me. I have never seen Haley live before. Which venue would give me the best first time Haley experience? Seattle is closer but I am more familiar with Portland. Thanks for any input in advance...

I don't know either venue, but from a quick Google search it seems the Seattle show might be a little more compact....there are several pics for Portland, there seems to be seating opportunity, though there are pics of that venue w/ big crowds, I think that's for their bigger venue (The Crystal BallRoom) whereas Haley will be performing in Lola's...?

The Portland venue generally has good reviews. It's on the second floor and holds about 200 people. There is a larger "historic" venue above it that holds about 1,000 people: The Crystal Ballroom. The neighborhood looks safe. It's near a Whole Foods, Patagonia Portland and Sur La Table. It's an 80s dance club on the weekends and has a floating floor that bounces, so that bit of fun accounts for many of the reviews.

A few older reviews referred to Chop Suey as a dive bar. It's in a popular area though and apparently changed hands a few years ago b/c they had trouble making the rent: $13,000 a month.

Chop Suey, a funky lounge and music venue in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood, is up for sale after rent in the stand-alone building rose too high. Known for its experimental streak with showcases like their Black Werido parties, but also home to concerts from the likes of Macklemore and Hawthorne Heights, Chop Suey went on the market in early August and is now listed at the "can-that-be-right?" price of $99,950. A Coldwell Banker/Bain realtor is handling the dirt-cheap sale and describes Chop Suey, which opened in 2001, as a "very well-known nightclub, bar, lounge and event venue in vibrant Capitol Hill. This stage books tons of national and international talent and music groups. Beautiful, funky build-out."

I love you Chop Suey. Always a good time. But you seriously have to do something about your bathrooms. I'm scared to drink in fear of having to pee, it's so atrocious. I understand a messy bathroom in a popular club/bar/venue, but that smell is other worldly.

I am genuinely flumoxed as to what appears to be not much buzz about Haley back here. I went to see Morgan at two shows in Seattle a couple weeks ago and nobody I spoke to at the show really knew who Haley was...they either knew Morgan as a fan or knew of her from PMJ. There was one guy who knew and liked Haley, even said he'd requested her for Jazz Alley, whom I had tried to get to get Haley here, but they required an act that could bring in crowds of over 400 for 3 nights. They didn't think, at the time, Haley could do that. ..I would have to list to the PMJ fans which song Haley sang... Maybe I've absorbed all the Haley love in the Seattle are

I can't believe Haley's team was only able to manage Chop Suey for this area....I HAVE to believe she could sell out the Triple Door like Morgan was able to...but I'm not complaining, Haley Reinhart, after over 5 years of asking and asking, is finally coming to Seattle, I don't care where, I'll be in the front row

edit.. I see now that the dinner seats are on the balcony .. VIP seats will let me stand on the floor so no conflict.

Yay just saw this! I love San Fran. Is the dinner before or during the show? I don't want to be interrupted during the show but I also don't want my grandma to be standing for 2 hours.

I wish she was coming somewhere closer to where I am. Not sure if I'll be able to make it to NY or Boston. As it gets closer, I'll have a better idea.

I agree Steve. And a "benefit" of the small crowd was the smaller, low riser stage set up that allowed us to be literally feet away from Haley. Front row, separated by only a waist high open barrier and pretty much at eye level. And you capturing Haley singing to my girls was amazing. They still get "goosies" when we talk about.
Hard to believe that was just a year ago. And it probably wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for you (Steve) who chauffeured the 3 extra riders 4 and 1/2 hrs from Webster NY to Pittsburgh AND videoed our M&G. We never really had the chance to thank you properly, I feel. I also think I must have stiffed you on splitting meals or gas. So if that's the case, let me know and we can square up.

I had to post because Cherelann posted (it's been years my lovely Halien friend) . I missed Dublin...now I am going to miss my hometown, Minneapolis, because my beloved nephew is getting married that day (who gets married on November 4th?). However, I am making plans to leave the next day for Chi-town for Haley's hometown visit...which will be Shindig 7-10, somewhere in there. Captain Dinkens knows the number. My best to all the Haliens here and across the Atlantic and the other pond too. The Slayer still rules!

Oh my goodness gracious, you just made my day!! We've missed you. Thankfully many of the old posters are coming out of hiding to celebrate Haley's tours...

I'm losing track Buzz. I know we just finished International Halien Shindig #1 (We missed ya buddy) And in Chicago we've had 2 BGDays Shindigs, 3 PMJ Shindigs+1 coming, 2 Haley solo Shindigs, 1 NOJO Shindig, 1 Lollapalooza Shindig & 2 half-shindigs, so on July 13th we will be at number 12 So November 5th would be Halien Shindig#13 unless something else comes up before November.
