"Beautiful World" ft. Haley with Irvin Mayfield to be released

This may be old news but I just noticed it. Kermit Ruffins and Irvin Mayfield have an album for pre-order on iTunes titled "A Beautiful World".

Haley is featured on one track "Beautiful World (for Imani)". There's a nice 1 min preview of the song. Sweet vocal. This must be what Haley was recording with Irvin in NOLA last year. The album is expected the same day as "What's That Sound", Sept 22.

Mayfield realized that vision by bringing in 57 musicians arranged in four configurations built around a jazz structure: big band, traditional jazz marching band, chamber orchestra and an amended funk ensemble. Some Basin Street Records artists joined to accomplish this goal: The king of New Orleans brass, Rebirth Brass Band; the professorial clarinetist Dr. Michael White; the musical genius, Jason Marsalis; and world-renowned percussionist, Bill Summers. Other notable featured artists include: Haley Reinhart of American Idol [], Cyril Neville (of the Meters and Neville Brothers), New Orleans bass legend George Porter Jr. (of The Meters and countless other bands), Tremé-crooner John Boutté, the inimitable and monstrous voice of Glen David Andrews, The King of Tremé Shannon Powell, a nine-piece string ensemble, and the silky-smooth spoken word bass of New Orleans-born actor Wendell Pierce (USA's Suits, HBO's The Wire, HBO's Tremé).

A Beautiful World will be available on September 22, 2017 on all digital platforms and on CD and Vinyl (includes free digital download) at your local record store and from BasinStreetRecords.com. Additionally, in conjunction with the album, Basin Street Records plans to release a graphic novel by writer Amen Neville-more details to come soon. Finally, a documentary about Kermit Ruffins is also in the works, and is slated for a 2018 release.

It also sounds like Haley on the song Mystic (with some electronic modification).

If you missed it, Haley not only said she'd be on 'a couple tracks' (Beautiful World & Don't Worry Be Happy) She also recorded background vocals, PJ pointed out track 9, "Mystic", sounds like Haley too, but there appears to be some electronic augmentation on the audio. As we saw in the videos that came out of that event, Irvin appears to be moving to a more experimental, modern combination to his jazz music which includes some updating w/ beats and electronic keyboard augmentation...

The New Orleans Advocate: Irvin Mayfield and Kermit Ruffins' ambitious 'A Beautiful World' launches Basin Street Records' 20th anniversary

Basin Street Records, home to a slew of New Orleans artists, released only one new album in2016, and only one so far this year. But that modest pace is about to change.

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the label has planned a plethora of new projects. The centerpiece is "A Beautiful World," a sprawling DC featuring trumpeters Kermit Ruffins and Irvin Mayfield and dozens of special guests, including George Porter Jr., Cyril Neville, the Rebirth Brass Band, vocalist Haley Reinhart and actor Wendell Pierce.

As previously mentioned, the album was scheduled for release on Friday but Basin Records now shows October 13 as the release day.
