As 2017 draws to a close, what's next for Haley?

I know this might be unpopular, but I honestly think she should establish herself as a musician before crossing over into acting.

I would think it almost necessary for Haley to have a higher profile as a singer to make any real headway on the acting front. Unless she were to somehow wrangle a major role because of her singing talent (like the Stevie Nicks biopic). There are many aspiring starlets who have seriously studied acting that it would be difficult to stand out otherwise. Consider though Stevie Nicks once wanted Reese Witherspoon to play her and she's now aged out of the role. Singers and actors typically have a small window -- when they're relatively young -- to break through and obtain widespread recognition. It's easier to climb one ladder and leap to the other than climbing two ladders at once.

Well, Janelle Monet has recently crossed over from singing to acting.

For me, it's more..if you are the singer/actor type..you're an entertainer..as opposed to a musician. It's hard to get credibility as a musician once you do the crossover..

Now, maybe Haley doesn't care at all. It would just be a shame, IMO, if she's seen as a starlet, rather than for the amazing vocals she has.

She has said on multiple occasions she'd like to get into other media, not only in front of, but also behind the scenes....

As she's proven since Idol, she doesn't feel limited. Not being 'boxed' into a specific genre was what confused judges and voters on that show. She wasn't playing on Idol as she's shown her versatility even 7 years later. She sings many genres, her first 3 albums are not similar at all, and she's a voice over actor, the voice of the younger version of one of the show's producers, a starring role. I think she sees her opportunities as a box of toys to play with, today she wants to be " "....tomorrow maybe she feels like trying this out etc....

An opportunity is an opportunity. I have come in contact w/ a movie producer (independent), was told if I wanted to be serious about studying videography, there are people w/ contacts in the industry, if I needed intern experience. I've had talks with someone thinking about possibly working on an LA musicians documentary, that I might be useful to them, Even though I don't see myself as a 'videographer', I sure as hell would snatch up that opportunity, if it's legitimate....

This is for a guy in Seattle who flies to LA every now and then to see a show... If even I get these kinds of situations, imagine the number of potential opportunities Haley might be able to consider?

Point is, in LA, people are searching for that one thing that will elevate them, it's not out of the question, especially w/ Haley's above average social skills on top of her talents, that she might find herself in front of the camera. If she does well with that, more opportunities would open up for her.

If Haley gets an acting opportunity, it would probably be a small part....doubtful it would take so much time that it would interfere w/ her career progress as a singer. Maybe it might take two weeks, a month...the same time as touring w/ PMJ in Europe?

Maybe she might get to work on a project that one of her friends is doing. In LA, there are plenty of people who have stories to tell, maybe like the SMYM video shoot, she guest stars in a small project....maybe it gets shown at some festival and gains accolades.... maybe Haley's part is a stand out moment of the movie and leads to bigger roles?

In the end, Haley knows and identifies herself as a singer/performer, I don't see a reason she needs to re-categorize herself as an entertainer in order to take advantage of, say a cameo on a TV show, like she did w/ 90210.

Speaking of Season 10 Idols moonlighting w/ acting....has anyone heard anything about that movie Casey co-starred in? They raised funds, had a party on it and everything, but haven't heard a peep in some time

Haley can dabble in acting now. But if she wants to be known as an actor then she will need a more high-profile role. Hence, my reference to climbing up the ladder.

All I know for sure is that Haley is living her best life each and every day. She has accomplished so much and is a prolific songwriter. Being able to put so much emotion into the songs she sings would seem to give her a leg up in the acting category. And then we must consider her personal life. Where she goes from here does not matter to me as long as she is pursuing her bliss and living her truth...
