Haley's hometown paper of sorts:

It’s no surprise that Haley Reinhart’s favorite song off her debut album is “Wonderland.”

Because that’s exactly how the 21-year-old Wheeling native describes her worldview right now.

That might explain why I still get a little endorphine rush and the hairs still stand on my arms when I listen to "Wonderland", there's a little extra Haley love mixed into the ingredients

I feel like I could almost stand in for Haley on her interviews at this point, because I've heard her give virtually the same word-for-word answers so many times I could probably recite them in my sleep!! lol

Well, mostly true....this is new

“I was going to have a really jazzy intro that I wrote years back,” she says. “It was about a minute long. I wrote the music and sang to it. For a number of reasons, politics, whatever, it didn’t work out.”

But that doesn’t mean the song is buried.

“I’m definitely going to bring that out again,” Reinhart says. “Maybe you’ll see it on tour.”

And that she got to make decisions on which mix to use.

She even spent time in postproduction, deciding which mixes would make the final cut.

“There are some artists, they like to record and then have people to take things away,” Reinhart says. “That’s not me. I wanted a hand in everything.”

Well, the hands on part we always new... Haley's a girl who likes to be in control! You're right about the intro, though. Never knew about it, or that she was trying to push it thru. Cool little nugget.

“There’s a track on ‘Listen Up!’ called ‘What You Don’t Know.’ It’s about being in love with a boy who doesn’t see it. I talk about being on North Rush Street and winter days, so there’s a little bit of Chicago in the record.”

And the other day we learned "Liar" was the first song she wrote and recorded.

Great article, with a lot of little new tidbits of info. Makes me picture a young Haley walking a cold, winter Chicago street, projecting her love on some boy that doesn't even know she exists. Haley stored it away for future reference...and we get 'What You Don't Know'...many wonderful songs come from heartache and pain.
