Enjoyed listening to the album on the radio. DJ Jade was consistent in her praise for Haley achieving her goal, working hard to produce her first album. She admitted she is not a love song person, which is why I think she gave it a B. However, she did pick some favorites off the album and wished 'Oh My' had been the first single.

Overall, what a blast listening to the whole album (10 tracks) straight through on the radio...loved it

I so love Haley’s new album Listen Up. It really takes me to a happy place and I can’t stop playing it. Fabulous cd in the car too. Haley is an amazing talent and so different from anyone else. Thank God good music is back with a happy vengeance.

Probably one of the finest reviews to date.

"As AMERICAN IDOL has de-volved into an on-going parade of white guy with guitar winners and even blander Top 10 finalists, Season 10 did prove to have a diamond in the rough.

Her name was Haley Reinhart. She wasn’t country. She wasn’t a Whitney clone. She was an original with a jazzy sound, a great look and unfortunately too much criticism heaved on by the biased judges that made sure she didn’t get past the third position in the competition even though she deserved to be in the final two (and honestly, she should have won the thing too).

That’s what getting a record contract can do though – it can prove how wrong everyone was. Yes, Season 10 Top 2 Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina are doing just fine, it’s just that Reinhart has crafted one of the smartest and single-handedly original post-AMERICAN IDOL albums yet."

"...The kick-off single is the addictive “Free” which is a fantastic first single. It has so many different layers to it as it builds and wells and Reinhart hooks into the song’s vibe with conviction. This song definitely makes it into the Top 10 songs of 2012.

I think the other great ting about Reinhart is that her voice is identifiably Reinhart’s. So many IDOL contestants sound the same or disappear into a soundalike kind of vibe (case in point this year’s runner-up Jessica Sanchez) that it’s hard to know who they are. And with females getting short shrift the last several years, it’s great to finally find someone break out of the pack not pretending to be someone else."

Now and then, TV talent shows uncover a little gem. In this case, 2011′s American Idol found Haley Reinhart. The Illinois gal came third in the tenth season of the show and released her debut album last month. Releasing the record a year on from Idol has clearly paid off as she conjures up a bloody good slice of quality pop!

Opening track Oh My! feat B.o.B sets the tone for the rest of the album, which in a nut-shell, is a collection of soulful pop tunes, often with a motown-esque sound.

Undone, a beautiful ballad on the album, really showcases Haley’s vocals in a much rawer sense showing the versatility of her voice. The album as a whole shows a lot of maturity as far as song selection goes. She has a real variety of feel-good pop tunes amongst real soul. Stand-out track Wonderland would sit well among the Sister Act soundtrack, creating a timeless slice of Motown fun.

Haley has built herself a great foundation for a tour with this album. With a full band these songs would be more amazing live than they are recorded.

Bloody good, indeed! Great to see some a positive review from a UK publication. I reckon Haley's going to do quite well internationally -- eventually.
