CANNES, France—Jason "Poo Bear" Boyd and Jared Gutstadt, president of Jingle Punks, are creating a new market for forging partnerships between brands and musicians. Their work has connected artists like Timbaland, Justin Bieber, Steven Tyler and Missy Elliot with brands such as History, Burger King, the NBA and Smirnoff.

"There is so much noise in the marketplace," Gutstadt explained. "People's attention spans are getting shorter and shorter."

Update:

The Love What Matters posting of The Story of Sarah and Juan now has 91 million views. Another FB posting by Jaime Soliz has more than 33 million views. So that's 124 million.

According to Kworb the single has been selling 2-3K copies a week in recent weeks. The Ole' article at the beginning of June indicated the song had sold over 200K at that point. Then there are the streams.

The top 5 YT videos of the commercial or the song have over 33 million views.

Related: The AATB Euro postings by Kai, Morgan, PMJ and others have around 100 million views now.

I'm still seeing the short version of the CHFIL Ad aired occasionally.

Also, I heard CHFIL on a radio station in Lahiana Maui a couple of weeks ago. I had just walked into a cute coffee/gilato shop on the main street when it started playing. Needless to say i bought some coffee and hung around to listen to the end.

Are there 2 versions of Haley's CHFIL? I heard it played when I was driving home yesterday and the radio seems to be "more breathy" and organic sounding/live. But my ipod sounds like a real studio song. Does this make sense, or am I just going crazy? I know she did say something about recording it more than once to get the right feeling, but I thought only the real commercial/studio song was released.

And I actually caught the whole song this time! There have been a couple times when I turn the car on or switch stations and I hear the last few seconds.

I just watched the full-length commercial a short time ago and it was more "breathy" than I recalled. But I think that was because I had headphones on and the volume up higher than normal. I think the "breathiness" helps convey emotion.

Plaisir d'Amour/Can't Help Falling in Love with You

In this week's Soul Music Marianne Faithfull recalls the French Love song which went on to inspire Elvis's 60's hit, 'I Can't Help Falling in Love with You'. 'Plaisir d'Amour' is the classical French love song which somehow found its way through 18th century orchestration (Hector Berlioz) and 1960's folk revival, to an unexpected re-invention into the Elvis hit 'I Can't' Help Falling in Love with You'.

...Written in 1784 by Jean-Paul-Égide Martini, Plaisir d'Amour muses on the pleasures and pains of love and was inspired by a poem which appears in Jean-Pierre Claris de Florian's novel 'Célestine'. For 17 year old Marianne Faithfull it was a song of innocence, recorded in a tiny booth in the old Decca studios whilst happily pregnant with her first child. Meanwhile, author Julia Donaldson and husband Malcolm busked it on the streets of Paris. It was the summer of 1969 and police hid in alleyways, still fearful of students following the 1968 riots.

As the classical French melody was adopted by Elvis and transformed into 'I Can't Help Falling in Love with You', West Point Military Academy Freshman Andrew Scott learnt to pick it's tune on guitar. It's a song that went on to win the heart of his wife of now 20 years. For Henry and Christine Wallace, it summed everything up "It was what I was looking for, someone to share my life and the words 'take my whole life too was in tune with what I wanted'.

Seems the "1960's folk revival" of "Plaisir d'amour" would have been after Elvis release of "Can't Help Falling in Love."

(Marianne) Faithfull began her career in 1964 after attending The Rolling Stones party where she was discovered by Andrew Loog Oldham. After the release of her hit single "As Tears Go By", she became an international star. Her debut album Marianne Faithfull (1965) (released simultaneously with her album Come My Way) was a commercial success followed by a number of albums on Decca Records. From 1966 to 1970, she had a highly publicised romantic relationship with Mick Jagger.
