It certainly didn't hurt. Imagine her album coming out and being a surprising chart-topping success with a hip sound that includes blues and rock influences. Then she rolls into NYC -- the nation's media center -- to perform old-school jazz numbers. They would eat it up.
Or maybe it'll open another door and she'll end up marrying Irwin Mayfield Jr, having children and living out her days performing at their New Orleans jazz club.
Early yesterday evening I attempted to respond to the "Que Sera" remark (of your's, I believe), with Haley's philosophical answer to much: "Everything happens for a reason..." when my internet connection cut out.
In the interim, it seems that you are thinking along similar lines (although I'm not interested in speculating about her personal life). If Haley's first album can pull off what you suggested, it would be fabulous!
And, Midnight, if more musical collaboration between Haley and Mayfield can further both of their careers (by securing a more solid position for Haley in the jazz world and garnering a broader audience for Mayfield), then I'll vote for that!
