After all this time, this vid makes me smile the most.
Simply...lovely.
Yes. I remember back when she was on AI, she had such a crappy reputation on the forum I visited, the AI boards. She had like 15 fans there, that's it, everyone else would beat her up for being snotty, hoarish ( their words not mine) etc. compared to their beloved Scotty, James, Lauren, etc. Everyone thought she should have been gone from the beginning, she didn't have the fan base she had @ IDF. I would watch this video and just be so confused at how they could say such mean things about her, just look at her! What a sweet, beautiful, talented, loving girl. I ADORE this video, I always wished I could force the "haters" to go watch it.
Waaaay back when I first joined IDF, I would sometimes go back to the origins of the threads and it would make me laugh, the huddling of the handful of early Haliens, talking about what they loved about Haley, and not so much about the haters. Then reading at their surprise as the numbers visiting Haley's forums increased and grew from there. We should be grateful to them for keeping it alive.
There was another camp of Haliens that was growing over at "TV Line" led by the words of Michael Slezak. That's where I joined the fun. I did not know about IDF at the time, but it would be a daily visit to the comment section to learn of things, Haley. There were a lot of Haters there too, but they eventually 'moved on' while we huddled and enjoyed telling our WTF stories to each other.....
Just speaks to how Haley has touched us in each of our own ways, and how she will do it in her career, building her fan base by how she touches us, in our hearts and at our core. Creating a connection that goes beyond a 'good beat' or 'nice hook' or 'catchy lyrics'. She connects to our humanity and what connects us to each other.
This stripped down video, without all the 'flash/bang', the beauty of a singular voice, the essence of innocence as a young talent shyly performs a song, that in her performance you see flashes of soul/sultry/confidence/ and passion. She looks into the camera, caresses the lyrics, wrings out every dripping drop of emotion.
borrowing from another passionate Halien, I'm "Hooked on Haley"
