Haley might have hoped that other songs connected more with people but the way I've heard her talk I think her main goal is making music that people connect to period.
I'd be pretty sure she'd be happy to have any song she helped write promoted ... especially now that its been half a year out. Actually I'd be almost certain that she's not telling anyone willing to put time and money behind promoting a song to hold back or only put their efforts into what she prefers. I think even the most established artists aren't allowed to make that decision themselves from their albums either.
I'm sure what's holding it back is $ and cents and the song release thing costs money and might not even be the way to popularity these days.
Is that how big hits by newer (as in un-established) performers hit big ? I looked up that "Bubbley" song which was a huge hit by a new artist in 2007 Colbie Caillat (with some ties to the industry and some credentials (if not too extensive given her young age) as a vocalist on other musicians albums)
I guess that caught an ear with the public after being promoted. Things may have even changed in the last 5 years (gagnam style)
Not that I've heard too much of Colibies music but it does show how tough it is to have a continued sucess in the business even when you do catch a brass ring and get a mega hit single. She's released second and third albums since then without any big hits.
Just trying to gain a little perspective on how things go and was trying to brainstorm recent female vocalists that have edged their way into the public conscious... if even fleetingly.

I don't have any real points just thoughts
- that the companies have hundreds of artists that they can try to promote,
- the venues that they promote to have limited spaces for stuff being promoted - they radio etc can only eat up so many chances for new artists..
- I imagine just as important as $ in terms of hard $ outlays related to the promotion, there is the opportunity cost.. each producer etc can only call in so many favors...they can't pitch dozens of things at the same time and they have a bagful and are thinking of what they aren't promoting instead when they are promoting one they have.
Anway, no real point. I'm really thinking Haley's going to get lucky with one of these movie/tv song placements that might get people asking for the songs...easier for them to start pushing something that already has a start before they get their weight behind it.
