I told her I couldn't believe my luck and she quoted me the Campbell quotes. I enjoy mythology she enjoys philosophy and Campbell is a little bit of both
Well (and you've been asking this question in various ways for the past few weeks) there are those who don't believe in accidents/coincidences. (There's a book written entitled
There Are No Accidents that's completely about synchronicity -- I did read it; can't say I found it to be 100% convincing, but it posits some interesting ideas.) Obviously, Haley's ethos "everything happens for a reason" veers into that synchronous territory without being that explicit.
Joseph Campbell -- what an extraordinary man and mind! He was an amazing mythologist and no slouch as a philosopher. If you haven't read his
Masks of God, Tusk, I'd recommend that you do. Campbell is to mythology/religion/philosophy what Jared Diamond is to -- well, just about every other discipline.
