I think that's cool too and increases the likelihood she might have a song that stands the test of time (like Carole King's songs). I don't think songs about heartache have the same lasting power. See below.
I was looking at Melanie Fiona's Twitter feed earlier today and she responded sarcastically to someone who was tweeting about her song that is #3 on iTunes R&B/Soul chart.
Quote:@kimberlyndc @creolestarr thanks ladies... I'll remember that the next time I'm making music with YOU in mind. (Smh). xo
She was responding to:
Quote:kimberlyndc Special K
@melaniefiona that 4am song is straight garbage! That whining would make any1 cheat.
I kind of agreed with the tweeters.
The chorus to that song:
Quote:It's 4 am and my lover won't answer. He's
probably somewhere with a dancer, sipping
champagne while I'm in his bed.
It's 4 am and I think I might lose it.
This muthafucka thinkin I'm stupid....
He must of bumped his head.
Don't he know it's 4 am.
Review: "Vocally, befitting the beat Fiona takes a more restrained approach, voicing her anger at a man too stupid to realize what he has with her in weary yet still-strong tones."
