She got to perform with Myles and Slash on national television, and meet other big names in the business like Stevie Wonder and Quincy Jones. All before her album was released. I think the performance itself is understated and beautiful.
If we're going to talk about this being one of her best live performances, then we should look at an HD example of it
Maybe too soon, but this one hits all the buttons for me, balls out rock, soft and subtle then pile driving bada$$ne$$. (and a gong). The green close ups really elevate the performance captured in the video to a surreal level that matches the dynamics in the song
Also, we've seen Haley, for the most part, 'solo'. This video, indeed,
the entire BGDays set list, shows just how dynamic she could be fronting a professional band.
Apologies to John, Keith and Courtney, they never had any real chance to meld as a band, but .... what a stark difference, Haley's performance in front of Midnight.
On a personal level, this will always have a place in my 'favorites' file. The first time I heard Haley live, sitting feet away from her and feeling a unique elation, an unexpected, unreal 'out of body experience' from listening to her voice, live...
(Also, the audio engineering for the video was pretty good, at the time)
Also the first time I noticed the phresh keyboards of one Mr Keith Phelps
