It's not at all bad that she can straddle genres with an ease that would boggle most minds. (And, I'm hoping -- mind you, this is not speculation, but merely my own very personal hope -- that she and Mayfield might be working on a recording.)
Haley has sang with Irvin and his players in N.O. informally several times, and at shows at Carnegie Hall, Chicago, L.A., and now N.O. Not a bad way to develop some jazz experience, cred and connections. She could do great things on a recording of the right song.
Irvin has noticed that the YT video of her singing with him at his club (GBTC) has far more views than any of the other videos that feature him. I'm sure he would love to broaden his exposure of his music and sell a few more records/tickets as part of this. Haley helps him a bit in that way. But it's more than just good business. Part of his mission seems to be nurturing aspiring jazz talent and Haley fits right in with that.
