RE: Why isn't Haley releasing any of her new music?
Count me as one of Haley’s fans who is frustrated as we near two years since “Listen Up” was released, waiting for new music. I am heartened by Himm2’s updates that a terrific new set of music is waiting and that her fans should not worry that a follow up CD will measure up to LU. She has the “Show Me Your Moves” video coming and I contributed to that effort and am hoping that the video is the start of big things—a new label perhaps, management team, etc. Maybe the good news will pour out all at once, who knows?
But, I have said and still believe that Haley needs to commit to PERFORMING and getting on the road to support any new music. There are hundreds of bands that are not chart toppers but that tour and produce new music on a consistent basis. One example is one of my favorites, the Old 97s. They just released their 10th studio album and it debuted at Number 30 on Billboard charts, which probably means first week sales well below 10,000 CDs. However, they tour and fill 3000-4000 seat venues easily and have a solid and loyal fan base.
Maybe the Old 97s are not the best comparison, but my point is that I don’t want Haley to be Lady Gaga or Katy Perry, but just hope she can find a band, continue to produce music, even on a small indie label and get on the road. I am still not sure she wants that however, but I think that for any significant longevity in the music business, it is the key. ZZ Ward who did not have a boost from Idol that Haley had, is slowly and solidly building her future with a terrific CD and great live shows—although she does have a solid label supporting her. If Haley could put a show on the road like Buffalo Grove, she would start selling out small halls and venues in time, just based on word of mouth and her passionate fan base.
Anyway, we will all see what is next, but I just hope that Haley hits the road, eventually.
