I really liked how she was all about her music. She said she wants to impact people with her music and some pop stars are just putting out singles for the easy money, where she wants to share her album as a story. I admired that about her. She said she is a chameleon when it comes to genres. She likes doing what she feels like. I asked her what keeps her sane and she said her parents help keep her sanity. Her next album is going to be “raw, griddy, and epic!” I’m excited to see what she has in store!

...After class, I called my little sis and said that Hayley Reinhart was in my class. My sis was so excited! She wanted Hayley to win that year because Hayley sang “I Who Have Nothing” and it was the best performance she ever seen on Idol. So I looked it up on Youtube, and it was amazing! Haley Reinhart is a wonderful singer! I don’t watch American idol and I can admit that I’ve never heard of this beautiful girl but I looked up some of her videos and she is amazing! I love her jazzy like voice! I don’t know much about American Idol but I do know that millions of people audition and there are a lot of great voices and to be placed third is really a huge accomplishment. Haley has a great personality and if she keeps up what she’s doing she can really get big one day. She’s come further than most people her age and hasn’t given up and I respect her for that. The fact that she isn’t doing it for the money is rare these days. Most artists are coming out with songs that have no meaning what so ever but they know it will sell well. I want to hear more of her music because she isn’t like the rest and she is such a sweet girl. I also really like the fact that she took the stage with her parents. She performed with them in a band called “Midnight.” She doesn’t have a specific genre and I’m sure with a voice like hers she could pull of anything.

Our guest this week was singer and songwriter Haley Reinhart. She seems like a real down to earth person that hasn’t been tainted by Hollywood. I have to admit I had no idea who Ms. Reinhart was before this interview. It was a pleasure to have a singer/artist on the interview floor for once. I was also impressed to find out Ms. Reinhart was the 3rd place winner of the 10th season of American Idol. She was straight with us and told us it’s not like you see on television. It takes work, dedication and patience. I also like the fact that she was so humble. “Life changes dramatically after being on tv. You have to learn to keep your morals and values.” She also told us that she wanted to win 3rd place cause she could have more creative freedom. She wanted time to write and create her own songs and not just be a pop robot. I think that’s really smart of her to realize that at a young age. She then went on to talk about the entertainment business and how you should always trust your gut. “Always know what’s going on with the budget.” She also told us to keep those that want to see you succeed close and never feel intimidated by your accountants. **I feel like Ms. Reinhart should start focusing more on social media because it does get your name out there. Make it easy for people to find samples of your songs and they will most likely share it with others.

I was able to see Ms. Reinhart sing with Professor Irvin and NOJO at their House of Blues show. I was stunned to hear how powerful her voice sounds. Like I said earlier I had no idea who she was because I don’t watch American Idol. She was quite spectacular on stage not to mention her beautiful dress and makeup. Cara, I’m glad you were able to get a photo with her and I hope your sister was super jealous! I also agree with what Antonia said, Ms. Reinhart has the right personality and will make it big in the industry if she stays her course. It was a pleasure see her perform and will be looking out for her name if she decides to tour our city.

Getting to sit in a room with a famous singer and hear them speak might be a big thing for most people, but listening to Ms. Reinhart was not what I would’ve expected. She was absolutely no different than any of my friends. She seemed like the kind of girl who used to be a shy quiet high schooler and took a shot at singing and ended up being awesome. It is a one in a 100 million shot at being that successful in her life at such a young age. Its cool seeing someone famous and successful conduct themselves as humbly as she does. I’m sure Hollywood has had its effects on Ms. Reinhart, but she masks the stress and tough decisions behind a kind friendly smile and soft voice. I find it awesome she is a song writer. I often struggle to write a rhyme or poem so i definitely respect the level of skill she has to not only be a performer, but also a writer. She is also a smart business woman. I never would have thought that coming in third on american idol would be great for someones’s career, but i see how first and second place may have put her into a contract that would limit her artistic freedoms, assuming it was a pre-written contract and she would basically belong to some record label. She is a smart, beautiful, and talented individual and i hope to see her succeed even further in the future.
