Quote:Did he do any new songs that we haven't heard?
I don't think so. But he did so much revising, and ad libbing in some of the familiar tunes that it almost seemed as though they were different songs -- particularly when he was adding in other tunes (such as
Don't Worry, Be Happy;
Baby).
LauraLiz, listen to GBM again, and concentrate on how long Jacob sustains that one note. I've long heard of "circular breathing" and have been equally as long skeptical of its reality, but Jacob made a believer of me. There was a point, maybe about 20 measures in -- a point where it seemed impossible to me that he could have played that long without taking a breath, and I happened to glance at him and could see him take a breath, but not through his mouth because there was absolutely no break in the tone. I. Was. Stunned. I still don't understand
how it's done, but I can no longer pretend there is no such thing.

Woot be there or be Obtuse! (not that being Obtuse is a bad thing
)
Oh Ga -roan!

(P.S. Tusk, I actually think it's funny, which only means we're both nerdy.)
I've said it before; I'll say it again -- and may yet repeat it in the future: Casey's combined musical talent and skills either allows him or seems to draw to him those equally as gifted and/or skilled. Taylor and Jacob musically complement Casey so extraordinarily well, and the fact that they seem to get along and enjoy each other's company off the stage as much as on the stage just makes the audience's experience all the more pleasurable.
I experienced one of my major bouts of shyness (the likes of which I haven't experienced for
many, many years) when I had the opportunity to talk to Casey and, given the questions and conversations that have gone through my head and I would love to be able to have with him, none of what I wanted to ask or say got asked or said. I didn't experience that so much with Taylor, and once I told Jacob that he's as much fun to watch as to listen to (and, well, we know what a delight he is to listen to), any wall was gone. (I think Jacob may be Casey's Keith Phelps -- always positive, energetic (as if Casey isn't?), smiling. And this is really saying something, because there wasn't the slightest sign that Casey or Taylor weren't positive or energetic or weren't happy to be there! But Jacob has this sort of inner spring that radiates out just how much he loves doing what he's doing. It's absolutely infectious! As much as I admire Casey, I adore Jacob -- that fact that he's a fantastic musician is a side note.
