Haley at the Troubadour July 23rd

All Hail were actually pretty decent. I did a quick look up for info on them. They did not seem particularly active, though they seemed younger than the images I remembered from their face book page.

I would say by 8, when All Hail started their set, the Troubadour might have been less than a quarter full, the people at the front of the stage were maybe 4 or five people deep.

As I was watching from my perch in the balcony you could see people mingling, the PMJ's tended to keep with each other, Casey with them. I didn't see anyone else of note I might recognise. After All Hail were finished with their set, people scrambled to set up/remove their instruments.

I noticed that it was indeed, Courtney Leonard who was standing at bass. In Casey's snapchat of their rehearsal, it Courtney was in too much shadow to see definitively that it was in. Having played for John Mayer and Phillip Phillips, I didn't think he'd be playing for Haley again, I met Courtney and Keith before I met Haley way back when. On the keyboards was Quinton, Jacob with sax, clarinet, Beatalks Marzano was drummer and I don't recall the name of the gentleman at the bongo's and tambourine (percussions)

By the time Haley took the stage, the floor was more than half full, people sitting on the sides. I'm not sure as to the quality of the sound setup, I often heard a slight buzzing, thinking to myself, The Troubadour should have this figured out? As always, I worry about the audio being unfixible, fortunately, that sound is minimal in the camera audio.

One thing I did notice while Haley started her set. Casey was standing with Scott watching Haley. Scott was standing facing the stage, watching the show intently. Casey on the otherhand had his body moving, his head swinging to and fro to the music, sometimes with a little emphasis with his shoulders. I could imagine his eyes were probably closed as he let the music move him LOL.

He was enjoying music like that until it was his turn to get on the stage.

Since I had to edit it out for length on the Creep video, I'll Transcribe what was said when Scott was introduced....

H: I'd like to bring up another guest performer, he goes by the name of Scott Bradlee!!
I just so happen to perform with him, as well as half this band, Casey and Jacob and I, with Postmodern Jukebox... Scott! Thank you Thank you.... and you know, it's kind of a little sensation on the Youtube
So check us out we got plenty of different videos with a lot of different performers and we travel the world together, from town to town....
So this is one that kind of went a little crazy...Scott? you want to say a few words?

S: I'm glad that I'm standing here, really testing my core strength today, you know I usually sit down on my piano, but now I could stand, plus I get to do this.... (spins/pirouettes)

H: (Watching Scott) Oh My!... (to the audience) He's got a few tricks ladies and gentleman

S: It might, it might not happen

H: For once it's not your show, so you can drink....

S: Yeah right, (chuckle) I know, what a change

Then it goes into what you see/hear in Creep

So after Haley's set, there was again the commotion to set up and switch out gear, but the crowd was starting to get noticeably denser. It wasn't as easy to move around on the floor, people probably trying to meet talk to Haley. Scott was getting alot of attention from people wishing him well, Casey was standing near his bass, until he had to break away, excusing himself to take care of his Bass.

While we waited for Haley to make an appearance, trying to slip by unnoticed, was Clare Reynolds, Haley's cowriter for LIWFF. I greeted her and congratulated her on the song making the album. She had a friend with her whom she introduced. We talked about how excited she was for the EP and being back in the States. She said she was also waiting for Haley, that she'd texted Haley and would be waiting in the outside bar.

After awhile, of no Haley, the crowd was noticeably denser, the Rigs were about to start, alot of people started entering the venue at this time. Either these were the 'industry' people the upper balcony seats were reserved for, or they were people given tickets to see the Rigs. I actually was surprised that the biggest crowd that night would be for the Rigs. By the time we left, the room was pretty filled.

It was getting late, I said goodbye to whom I could. Met a nice Father/daughter Halien fans who I met first at Room5. They asked if I got videos to post? I told them yes. We followed each other on Instagram (I did that a few times that night. Seems a lot more 'social' app than Twitter)

Before we pulled out of our parking, I got a text, "Where you at?" It was Rachel. I apologized I didn't say good bye properly because it was crowded and late, we were going to call it a night. Rachel would stay to watch the Rigs, so we bid each other farewell/next time.

.....So much for getting quickly back to the hotel. The streets were filled with cars. As I followed my GPS, things started getting worse and worse.... maybe 4-5 cars got through per light. It took half hour to move 1/5 mile. By the time we reached the intersection where we needed to turn right, it was blocked by police cars, officers signalling for me turn left. Behind him you could see the other side of the street was similarly barricaded. At least 10-12 Police vehicles with their reds and blues on. In addition to all of this, there were maybe two police helicopters circling above with their spotlights....it was insane

(Remember my Niece referring to Grand Theft Auto? How true would this statement be )

Well,it turns out there was apparently a big show with some big Rapper who cancelled the show and apparently there was fear of a riot. At Dinner, earlier, I remember Dina Lapolt, Haley's lawyer, tweeting about the possibility of a riot, but I didn't pay attention.

Full on riot in front of our office building.....1future is playing a free show at The Roxy. Is it necessary to have all these police officers here??

In front of my office building....at The Roxy on Sunset.....riot!!

So we had to take a detour... we took a left and went up a hill. Next thing I know, another Disney land Drive...left right, up down, weaving away. I had this thought... what if it takes us in a full circle...which it did.... Unbelievable. Our Hotel was just on the other side

Eventually we had to take a long detour to finally check in....., almost 2 hours after we left the Troubadour.... LA traffic is the best!

So when I finally returned my Niece to her mother, I told her all the things we did. My sister then said t Kristina, "So?? How was it meeting Haley? "

Kristina put her hands up to her face, "Oh my Gosh, Mom, I wanted to tell her, 'You're so beautiful!'"

I said Kristina also got to meet Casey...."Mom, he's got a man bun, he plays the bass, he's so cool" LOL

So it sounded like, mission accomplished. It did suck that I had no internet access, but other than that, a lot went very well, I got to spend a ton of time with my Niece, took her to her first concert, a Haley Reinhart concert at the Troubadour and she had a great time!!

PS, this is for those who've told me they used to enjoy when my post used to be 'longer' of my trips, telling a tale. I explained that there's sometimes things that probably shouldn't or can't be made public, things you can't say, people who prefer anonimity, so that tends to lighten the load of the things that can be mentioned.
