This seems too weird to consider. I doubt if Haley would even do this, but is it legal, etc.?
Why not? I suppose if the writers signed away their rights to the song there could be issues. Writers frequently perform and record their own song after it has been popularized by another performer.

It does seem these songs get leaked by producers/co-writers who are not so careful. Some may not think about it much because they put up stuff on their soundcloud or website all the time that is pretty much ignored. But that changes when a search for "Haley Reinhart" reveals something of hers now on their site. I suspect some of these cowriters don't mind or may intentional seek to get a little publicity from their association with Haley.
