So, maybe it is good LU did not catapult her into the stratosphere of artists. She was able to step back and focus on putting out great music over the last three CDs. And as noted, she will be around for the long haul….for years and years to come…
Precisely!
I know to some, I sound like a 'hater' or someone that doesn't want Haley to reach her greatest potential. I'd think after the 7+ years I've put into promoting Haley would be proof enough that I'm 100% behind Haley,
the Artist ?
It all comes down to what you think 'success' or 'reaching your potential' is. As a student of music history taught by her folks, she probably is fully aware of the traps navigating a music career. She learned the hardest way when she was unceremoniously ejected before her career even got a chance to start by Interscope. (I still don't
hate them as some do. They gave us Listen Up!, allowed her to put her own songs on it, gave us a deluxe album w/ four more amazing songs, and gave us Lollapalooza

)
I'm just trying to take a look at a bigger picture, as Haley surely has been by her activity. The key to Haley's evolution to this point has revolved around what happened to her in her early career post Idol and signing w/ Ole, IMO two of the most pivotal moments that shaped Haley to who she is today, why she does what she does all the while building more and more of her self confidence and self reliance. That is growth, that is moving to your greatest potential, the knowledge that in the end, when there's no one else, you know you can rely on yourself...that is the woman we see today in Haley.
I recall the first two shows I saw Haley, Spokane and the Listen Up! debut, she was surrounded by at least 3 security guards, all over 6 ft tall and huge surrounding tiny 5'2" Haley.
Burned into my memory is in Spokane, as security surrounded her to escort her out, I asked her if she was going to do Carnegie Hall w/ Irvin Mayfield, I clearly remember her looking through, in between two huge security guards, raising both her hands in a thumbs up gesture, big smile on her face and saying "Anthony, yes, it's a go" (paraphrasing

)
They wouldn't even allow us to take a pic w/ Haley at the LU debut party 7 years ago, very strict
That could've been all our experiences meeting Haley, seeing her smile from behind heavy security.... no thanks :/
