While in the other thread, I mentioned that DKHTLY could easily transition over to the country genre, IMO it doesn't seem like it's a genre she might throw herself into as much as she does Jazz, Rock, Pop, even blues. I think declaring her independent artist status, highlighting that she has the freedom to release whatever song she wants when she wants, means what she'd be releasing she'd be 100% behind. Haley's dabbled in country, I just don't see the same energy put forth in that genre, there's no history of it, as she does the other genres she does so well.
As I stated in the other thread, I do think it's possible a country singer might try putting a country twist to a song she's written. Haley seems to like to write about different stages of relationships, heart ache, break ups...right in the country music wheel house
The thing I hope Haley puts the most effort into, in the coming year, is promotion and consistent support for what ever material she does release.
The singles she released this year, some didn't even get any promotion, or barely any, like "You Send Me" got zero promotion even though it was used for a clip on a UK reality TV show
Possibly my favorite Country act (outside of early Eagles) is the Dixie Chicks. They are 100% country, but their music, song subject matter and performances put them at a higher level than most country music for me. They stand out and are exceptional at their craft. I would like if they decided to put a spin on one of Haley's songs, like how they re-invigorated "Landslide"
