RE: Haley Twitter Countdown
One problem is that music is now digitally mastered. The downside of digital is that the complete waveforms of the music are not recorded. Unless the music is recorded in analogue a vinyl record will just be an analogue representation of the digital master and it's missing elements. Of course the sampling rate of digital masters is much higher with current standards than it was in years past, but you're not going to get it on a CD (DVD sampling rate is 192,000 samples per second while the CD rate is 44,000 samples per second due to the lower capacity of a CD). Vinyl records can capture all the information from the best digital masters (at least in theory). Of course, vinyl records lose information over time since they wear down a little bit with every play and extraneous information is also added from scratches and nicks.
