I’d like to share with you a plan for helping Haley with spincrease and see if I can get some of you on board because I cannot implement it by myself. So far many of us focused on larger markets (because of larger AI), but after examining the addboard for various artists, it became apparent that larger market stations begin adding songs of new artists much later in the process, often after the song reaches top 20-25 (unless these new artists have huge sales or high spins on the CHR/POP format).

The question is how we can get Haley high enough on the chart to be noticed by other stations. There are several smaller stations that tend to give large spins to idols. For example, at the peak of James’ spins almost half of his spins came from 4 stations: Fresno, Boise-ID, Bakersfield, and Corpus Christi, TX. In last two weeks, Corpus Christi, TX accounted for 50+ Kris’s spincrease (69 spins last week; the next one is Fresno with 33 spins). Corpus Christi also gave 67 spins to Daughtry last week. If we just can get one of the stations to give 60 spins of Free, it can move Haley from #31 to #26.

While requesting Free regularly on other stations, what if we make concerted every-day effort to request Free on these 4 idol-friendly stations, let say for one week. What if they respond and start increasing their spins of Free. It may not work, of course. But if we do not try it, we will not know whether it works. A potential payoff is high, not in terms of AI, but in terms of chart position that hopefully can bring larger stations into play.

We've got the first spin on Sirius XM. Even though it is a satellite radio, it is still considered as a monitored and published HAC station. Spins do not give the audience impression, but they count towards the published chart. It would be nice if Free got played there, because usually they give large number of spins.
