The Philippines already talking up Thia and other Idols upcoming peformance

The singer stays with the group in their tour bus. But since she's only 16, she travels with her mom. And though she's now a star, just like any Pinay teenager, Megia has to deal with having a strict mom.

"I've been with my mom the entire time and we have our ups and downs as mother and daughter but it's something I've always been used to. My entire life I've always had my mom beside me," she said.

She added, "She nags a lot, she tells me to do this and that, and I'm like, 'Mom, please stop reminding me.' But I love my mama and she loves me so much. If she wasn't with me I don't know what I'd be doing right now. It would be so weird for me."

While touring, Megia writes songs that she hopes would be in her first album.

She said being a contestant on "American Idol" -- where fans, judges, and critics can be brutal -- taught her to be tough and learn from her mistakes.

"I agree with them. I know I could have done a lot more on the show. For me, I had a hard time choosing the perfect song," she said.

"I think America sees me as just a ballad singer but after the tour ends, I want to work on my music to prove to them I don't just do ballads."

Her fellow contestants are impressed with her talent and personality.

"Her voice is incredible. I mean, I remember even just in Hollywood week hearing her do 'What A Wonderful World,' and I'm just like, 'Who is this?' I get chills just talking about it," said Haley Reinhart.
