RE: Scotty McCreery omniibus thread
I expect someone will pick him up.

The fact that he had strong sales, but didn't do too well on radio is a suggestion that Mercury wasn't doing it's best to promote him.

He also fits right in with the culture of country music.

RE: Scotty McCreery omniibus thread
OT Question. Fellow Haley fans... as someone that has missed two concerts this year of personal fave singers (Haley, Kris Allen), would it be strange to see a Scotty show knowing full well that I'm not a hardcore fan of his? It's the Idol fan in me that's curious. Tongue Anyway. His tickets aren't cheap, but the show is very local. I hear he's a good performer, and he impressed me on the Idol tour 5 years ago. So... Yay or Nay? Smile

RE: Scotty McCreery omniibus thread
I've left all that Idol stuff behind, I liked the contestants of that season, including Scotty, never said he wasn't talented. Like Haley, I appreciate the entire 'journey' put it in it's proper perspective...if you like his music, why not go?

Idol's been over 5 years ago, they're all on their own merits, 5 Years on, I'm grateful Haley's 'down' time was used productively so she can reap the rewards, I went to see James recently, he was a very nice guy, very personable. Idol is not a good reason to not see and support him Tongue

Oh, I hear ya. I think Scotty's very talented too, and as much as I wanted Haley to win Idol I'm not bugged by her finishing third anymore. I'm an Idol nerd so yeah. I don't take it as a jab if someone calls a personal fave singer of mine an Idol. I do it myself. I don't mean anything negative about that by the way.

I do think that the stigma from the show can be annoying if you're trying to see them as their own artist. Idol started the journey for many talented singers, but it isn't the whole journey. Or the proper bio as one might say. Since there's pre-Idol, during Idol, and post-Idol for those who were on it and made it big in some form. At least that's the way I see it. Wink lol

I like a few of Scotty's songs, but I'm by no means a country music fan. Idol fan yes. Scotty as a person fan yes. Country music fan? NOPE. I'm curious as one who watched him grow on Idol and as one who has seen him perform once before. Does it matter if I'm more of a casual observer and not a hardcore fan though? Because I know that someone might think that I'm... "Stealing a seat from real fans..." Ok maybe just one person might think that. Tongue

Anyway. I appreciate the journey too. And I think Scotty's had a helluva ride so far. Just from my observations. He even wrote a book. That's pretty awesome and I might check it out (along with Melinda Doolittle's and David Archuleta's. Not because they were on Idol, but because I like them. Also I'm curious what they have to say. Smile) sometime soon.

You have a point. I may just be overthinking this. lol I should just go and enjoy the concert. Big Grin

Definitely go! Country isn't my thing, but I've got a lot of respect for Scotty both as a person and as a talent. (Scotty came to Connecticut to help run musical therapy program for the Sandy Hook kids. Liked him before I saw him do that, loved him after.)
