A small skirmish over at IDF about Haley still being connected to the AI brand, to stay loyal or to separate.

I was ready to do battle with NoWits & KP after I peeked into IDF for the first time in months and saw them Poo Pooing Haley's BG Days gig as a small kiddie show using amateur backup family musicians... But I figured why bother? Let those morons show their ignorance when all the YouTubes get posted.

There has always got to be someone in the crowd that is well let’s just say overzealous with their comments. Not worth messing with, typically these people do it to get a reaction and love to do battle. Better off to let them wallow in their own miserable negative world.
Haley is getting a chance to do what she loves and it doesn’t matter where. She gets so excited when she is on stage with her family as we have all seen before. It is family, friend time with a little vacation and making a few bucks. Plus her fans will be there and she really appreciates that! I for one am looking forward to all the video’s and posts about this weekend, I can’t wait!

Just a few thoughts: When a vocalist enters a singing contest, competes against thousands of 'want a be's' and takes third, thats a big deal. Adam Levine has stated several times on the Voice that he couldn't place on the show. I'm conjecturing the negs first started with established artists; perhaps worried about the competition, then noised about by their lemmings as they fall off the cliff of mediocrity.

Oops didn't mean to post yet. Most of the big names, making the bucks, winning the awards, sticking their derriere's in your face on national tv have been bought by the dark side of the entertainment industry. It's salient if you look. Haley is a sweet, talented young lady who is not ashamed, even grateful, for her journey. And she should be, she even said it herself, "it's for third place and thats a big deal."

To be fair, that thread got moderated. KP was not talking down Haley, NW was.

I suspect she requested the "moderation" because some started posting their opinions of her opinion of Haley's Wheeling gig. It's allowed to talk negatively about the artist, but not allowed to talk negatively about posters or their opinions, according to MODs, so posts were deleted and people were suspended. If you must post, the way to do it is to post your own positive opinion without throwing shade to the naysayer's opinion, countering without engaging ...

IMO it's not worth engaging in these types of things anymore, all it does is give the naysayer a larger platform and extends a negative situation. TBH, none of us know what is in Haley's head, nor do we completely understand her circumstances, so better to put energies to supporting her rather than deflecting negativity and in effect, stop feeding the troll.

(separate incedence)I am grateful that Miguel edited out the unfortunate dialogue concerning my late night blunder of associating Tusk with a far different person and taking his work and sharing an edit of it publically on youtube without permission. Those were truly mistakes on my part and to be honest I was regretting my action and considering different ways of sharing the sound before I even got here and realized how badly I had blundered (the name mistake really mutiplied the mistake. That I regarded it as temporary didn't excuse using it (especially the video itself) without permission

Tusk.. I owe you a private apology on that but wanted to be sure I understood the words to use correctly so as not to qualify my actions. Some of the deleted posts spoke to my good intent but that didn't correct the negativity you felt I was engendering(I wanted to think harder on that). I also didn't want to come off as asking for immediate forgiveness for something that I can understand why you felt it was offensive.

You post above helps me better understand the color of your offense beyond the more obvious ones of not asking permission/saying you were someone else.

To all here - I know that my attempts to analyze things can come off as overly critical. I get in that problem with many people conversationally as with any issue, I will vocally analyze both the views I agree with and also the most plausible argumentspeople could make in opposition to thing and just I various different angles that also could effect a situation to a slight degree. I'm not so much playing devils advocate (although that might be a fair interpretation for those looking for a take away message,not an analysis) but just always like to have all the facts on the table when anything is brought up.

In fairness, Maybe this should be a only fan site, not an interpretation or speculative discussion site. Or maybe it needs to at least lean harder towards appreciation first, or with posts of a not fully supportive nature should be taken to different threads.

I am aware of the issue yet even though I'm trying to reign that in given my nature I'm going to slip...I try to take a week or 10 days away when I see myself getting too critical(might be due for that now) In all honesty, I yearn for a site where people more experienced than me also have a similar desire to pick musical performances apart to the degree I would like to (that would actually keep me from typing only partially baked thoughts when I saw a fully detailed version in words better than I could think of)... and I should probably look for that type of place harder

I disagree that this should be an exclusively "pie in the sky" place. I encourage posting, it's the motor to any blog. Nothing wrong with reasoned discourse or honest difference of opinion, that being said,

I would caution being over critical of those who sacrifice their full enjoyment of Haley's performances so they could bring videos for all of us,to enjoy. Do we need fewer people to even "bother" to video, since they wiill be criticized because of their equipment limitations, unforseen audio issues or filming from crowds and not "perfect circumstances". Would you prefer no video over "imperfect" video?

I did the best I could to "clean up" what I could to the audio and, after the fact, continue to be EXTREMELY appreciative of the amazing video taken by Team HaleyFans. Without that effort, and sacrifice of enjoying the show, to video it all, I would not be STILL enjoying the heck out of the Caley performances ( I still watch/listen to them at least twice a day.
What if they weren't there to video that?..... We would be left with my muddy, crowd perspective video and the intermittent posts of others.

Secondly, my reaction. You had the unfortunate luck of stepping on two very sensitive peeves of mine going back to when I first waded into the world of internet posting:
- Working on something then having someone else taking it and calling it their own. Once I was able to accept that that is just a peril you have to accept if you are to post on the internet. You can only hope that people will do,the right thing. Everybody has to determine for themselves what's right, where their line is in that regard.
I may accept that reality but it doesn't mean I'm OK with it.

Secondly, my OCD tendencies has me super neurotic about being misunderstood resulting in long explanation posts to clarify myself. Saying that I was "also known as KP" says that his opinions are mine, which they are certainly not.

That being said, I have nothing against KP, I just don't want people to think that what he posts are attributed to me.

I have participated in my fair share of posting skirmishes and have concluded nothing positive can come from them. I finally look to Haley's example of not dwelling on the negative, that positivity will always create better situations and opportunities.
I've had many a tiffs with KP in the past, but, ultimately, in his own way he is in Haley's corner. I may not like how he expresses himself on a lot of things, but everyone has a right to an opinion, in the end, internet posting is not the best way to iron out differences of opinion or view.
That he defended Haley's fans in general, despite our differences (in his blog, a commenter, we know who she is, though she changed her name, said Haley needed to hire security to protect from "creepy" fans last Dec in Vegas ) meant alot to me.

I’m amazed at her scatting in “My Cake”, but I am most attracted to her scatting on “The Flintstones”. I love when Haley goes into that lower register and there is one section where she swings with it and Casey’s facial expression and head shaking back and forth says it all. Reminiscent for me of Ella Fitzgerald, just heavenly. I’m no expert, I just know that I like that part a lot. Also, there is one point where Haley matches Casey’s sometimes craziness in his scatting and she is having a blast doing it and so am I.

ISCAT...I completely agree with you about the scatting on the "Flintstones." Except (you knew that had to be coming didn't you?) while stylistically Haley may be "channeling" Ella, the interaction with Casey is more reminiscent of some of the scatting the two of them did on "Moanin" during the AI tour. I don't remember which performances they were but they led to discussion on Slezak's Haleyloonies comments section between Tusk and Jesse(?? - Tusk, I remember that his "name" started with "J" and it wasn't dear "James" or "james"). The two suggested "interpretion/translation" of the Caley "scat language:" Haley wanted Casey to pick up a carton of milk -- Casey, of course, forgets. The Tusk/J?? commentary was pretty funny.

Which brings us to "The Flintstones" scat dialog. There is an intensity in the interaction between Haley and Casey (as much fun as they're having) that makes this scatological interchange seem much more serious. While I don't pretend to "know the language," I'm thinking that this give and take between them was more along the line of "who brings home the bacon!"

"The Flintstones" jam by Casey's group is a really tight work. In some ways it's amazing that there was any "space" for Haley to be able to contribute at all. And this afternoon, I heard the Monty Alexander arrangement of the song, which I suspect (strongly) influenced Casey/Jacob/et. al. (Sorry -- I haven't been able to find a Youtube recording to share.)

LOL, I remember being stubborn, refusing to see Haley echoing in cavernous stadiums among a group of other performers, vowing only to see her in smaller, cozier venues....... then immediately regretting it
