RE: Random Stuff
^^Tusk, I had just read that shortly before you made your above post. I understand that there are numerous "twelves" involved: gems, feathers, flags. Your pictures (above) allow me to see it better, specifically the gems, but I'm still struggling to figure out where the flags and feathers are. Assuming the symbol/figure at the bottom of the ring might depict "flags," I still don't see something that would represent feathers.

EDIT: Given the following information, I don't think what I thought might be flags are flags.

Quote:Framed by 12 gemstones. Engraved with 12 feathers. 12 Flags on top, bottom and the stem.

So is the ring also a scavenger hunt to find 12 of the feathers and flags?

I think something was lost in translation, Nowhere do I see even 1 feather. However I do see a "12th Man Flag" and the marks beneath the ring, I can see as the bottom pointy end of a 'flag', much like the one that has NFL written on it, above the "2013" So I can see there being 12 Flags, but the feathers? It's possible it somehow refers to the "12th Man Flag" and somehow ending up '12 feathers' Tongue

Thank you Tusk, for confirming what I saw! Thank you, thank you, thank you! (I, too, saw the "12th Man" flag -- perhaps that's it.) Initially, the article I saw was a Bleacher Report but I suspect it came from this: http://network.yardbarker.com/nfl/articl...d_16693651

Used to love watching these, James Burke was kind of a British "Bill Nye the Science Guy" He had a marvelous way of explaining interelated disciplines and happenstance and their resulting, sometimes, revolutionary outcomes

Quote:Connections is a ten-episode documentary television series and 1978 book ("Connections" based on the series) created, written and presented by science historian James Burke. The series was produced and directed by Mick Jackson of the BBC Science & Features Department and first aired in 1978 (UK) and 1979 (USA). It took an interdisciplinary approach to the history of science and invention and demonstrated how various discoveries, scientific achievements, and historical world events were built from one another successively in an interconnected way to bring about particular aspects of modern technology. The series was noted for Burke's crisp and enthusiastic presentation (and dry humour), historical re-enactments, and intricate working models.

When I created the thread "Connections - Haley's Musical Buddies" I added the word "connections" last. I thought about the word having several relevant meanings: (1) making connections in the business, (2) connections as it was meant in the Burke series title (at least loosely - obviously outside of science - but synergism, perhaps), and (3) the notion of six degrees of separation or the six degrees of Kevin Bacon (but mostly considering 2 or 3 degrees).
