My personal entertainment hopes for Haley 2018:

World wide non disputed vocal artist domination of course.

A great acting role that she can really sink her teeth into, and I hope it's a gig she's already received and has scheduled. She has a tendency to wait to mention big developments until they're a done deal, so it's possible! #youmaysayimadreama

After seeing Haley perform live 3 times in 2016 and 3 times in 2017, I would adore 3 more in 2018.

A jazz standards album that will showcase all of my favorite jazz performances we've seen and some new ones as well. I'd love it to include: Gee Baby, At Last, Come Rain or Come Shine, Moanin', Cry Me a River (with Casey, Bossa Nova style with some mutual scatting and hand trumpet like the video below) and Dream a Little Dream.

Definitely agree about the acting role. I think it will expose her to new audiences beyond music fans.

Jazz album is definitely a goal for me, too. Something in the vein of Amy Winehouse, Duffy, Paloma Faith, etc. I really want a Moanin' studio version and Steppin Out With My Baby studio with Tony Bennett as well.

Also does anyone know where I can listen to the Target Exclusives? I bought the vinyl version and I know the extra tracks are not available online. I would just like to hear what they sound like even if posted on here or somewhere else. thanks

2 new demo tracks have surfaced on sound cloud. "Queen Of Thieves" and "Confident" Sounding more contemporary. R&B/Pop like Rihanna.

Haley seems reflective. She recently posted several photographs from her time in the studio at this time last year. http://haleyfans.com/showthread.php?tid=...8#pid64968

No promises though of anything new being in the works. Kind of makes me think she's eager to return to the studio, but is in a "what next" mode.

After doing classic rock, a jazz album would satisfy the hunger of many. I'm not sure we should expect that unless it is to buy time until she released more original music. I'm thinking it might take longer this cycle since she has expressed a desire to learn an instrument.

Then there's the management shakeup to deal with. If she doesn't plan on doing much anytime soon, she can probably save some bucks by going it alone for awhile.

A sharp reduction in live performances would probably indicate she is focused on preparing her next act behind the scenes.

Next weekend, there's a show with Dave Damiani and The No Vacancy Orchestra featuring Landau Murphy Jr in Palm Springs. That's relatively close -- especially compared to Atlantic City -- and Haley's not involved. So she might not be planning to hook up with them anytime in the near future.

RE: As 2017 draws to a close, what's next for Haley?
Just putting it out there, yes, Haley is probably reflective, year ending/beginning, find most people reassessing (plus the reflective nature of what she wrote on the posts). On the other hand, all the photos are from Monika Lightstone... it's entirely possible that she posted these photos because Monika recently sent them to her and she's had a chance to look them over after a busy year's end of touring, PMJ and family/friends time?

Speculation:

I think 2017 is significant not only w/ signing w/ Concord & touring, but I think it's also the year where Haley made significant inroads in Networking contacts, not only in the music business, but in other media as well.

So I'm going to throw in that I think it's not unlikely, that Haley will get some kind of gig in front of the camera, whether it would be a cameo, or a commercial or even possibly showing up on Idol or the Voice as a mentor, or guess judge.

Two of the talents she worked w/ on FiFF, MAJOR talents, won Golden Globes, last night, Sam Rockwell (Vic) and Laura Dern (Sue Murphy). We haven't heard Haley befriend anyone on that 'level' publicly, but knowing how Haley is able to positively impress people....I would not be surprised if Haley has left them w/ a positive impression.... I don't know, I just think the combination of the situation she's created for herself, in her career, at this point, combined w/ her network & networking skills....it just feels like there's a possible tipping point pending and we will see her in one way or other trying her hand at acting.

As far as learning to play an instrument, I have to believe she's better than beginner level, possibly adept, just need to fine tune, so I don't see it possibly taking so much time that it prevents her from acting on opportunities that arise. Also, learning to play an instrument well, could possibly mean a few shows to 'practice' in front of a live audience.... one possibility is I can see her going the "SoFar" route of private, 'secret', location announced days before the show, performances. Something Drew already does for his shows. It's a 'public' stage, but controlled, an environment that's relatively relaxing, so the pressure isn't quite as high to sing whilst playing an instrument Tongue

I know this might be unpopular, but I honestly think she should establish herself as a musician before crossing over into acting.

RE: As 2017 draws to a close, what's next for Haley?
I think in her mind she already identifies as a musician, how often had she mentioned in interviews about getting into acting? Even recently?

Like how F is For Family came about, I'm pretty sure Haley will take any promising opportunity that comes her way and go with it, especially if it falls within the goals she's set for herself....

I know, acting is probably further down the line, but, as I posted above, 2017 just feels like there've been so many opportunities to 'hob nob' w/ people of influence...remember when she and Scott were asked to fly to NY to perform at a party thrown by Ariana Huffington? Add to that the continuing playing of the CHFIL commercial, PMJ is bigger than better, including a national (OK not so much Tongue ) broadcast w/ PBS and two tours, one in Europe.... Maybe acting in a year or two, but don't be surprised if an opportunity beyond the music industry comes her way in 2018 Angel

I would think it almost necessary for Haley to have a higher profile as a singer to make any real headway on the acting front. Unless she were to somehow wrangle a major role because of her singing talent (like the Stevie Nicks biopic). There are many aspiring starlets who have seriously studied acting that it would be difficult to stand out otherwise. Consider though Stevie Nicks once wanted Reese Witherspoon to play her and she's now aged out of the role. Singers and actors typically have a small window -- when they're relatively young -- to break through and obtain widespread recognition. It's easier to climb one ladder and leap to the other than climbing two ladders at once.

Unless you have the talent to climb two ladders?
(in your analogy, ladders don't have to necessarily be side by side, maybe you can stack them on top of each other and climb both at the same time, step by step.
She is doing that w/ her music career and voice over work, after all, while still able to complete two tours as well as touring w/ PMJ Tongue )

The combination of Haley's talents, including her looks, personality, perseverance, determination, conviction and especially her surreal singing talent, gives her a couple steps advantage in front of most talented people.

That being said, I think it's her social skills that might end up being the aptitude that could open up the most opportunities. She can hang w/ the 'common people', the stars, the legends, musicians and music directors without breaking stride, while leaving a positive impression.

I know, I know, I'm being perhaps hyerbolic about Haley's talent and perhaps how she's perceived among her peers and mentors, but I truly believe that the unique singing and performance talents will give her the opportunities, but it'll be her personality and social skills will be what takes her to the next level....

One thing I wonder though, will there be a time she can find a manager that she trusts enough to loosen the control she wants to maintain on her career, so she can focus more on elevating her brand, while her manager maps out with her, which direction would best highlight her, grow her career and opportunities?

Your mentioning artists 'ageing out' brings to mind a comment made about the nature of the music business, specifically Pop, by Bjorn Ulvaeus, (paraphrasing) that you have a very short window in Pop music to be relevant to fans of pop music.
(*** comment made to the question of whether ABBA will ever reunite. He basically said, that ABBA's time was over and they weren't interested in capturing a moment that had past. Better for their fans to remember them at their height than 70 year olds trying to relive the glory days)

Bringing it back to Haley Tongue

I think Haley has proven her versatility, and that will be what gives her a long career in music. That's why I'm not as upset as some fans that she seems to shift in the music she puts out. IMO she should be putting out music of her generation, music fans of her age can relate to, because it'll be harder to capture as she gets older (she is on the 'other side' of her 20's now, heading to 30.... a bit depressing since many of us became aware of her as a 20 year old Tongue)

As much as I think a Jazz album for Haley might be next w/ Concord, I'm confident that if she wanted to wait until later and continue to put out more contemporary, or even Pop music, that's exactly what she should do. Jazz, in general, is an 'older person's music', so she's got time to inform her Jazz w/ life experience. In the mean time, she's still got PMJ to turn to if she has an itch to put out some Jazz.

Anyways.... One of the things I have grown to appreciate more and more about Haley is that she is a 'true artist' and I support her following her instincts, because it might not be there forever, so take advantage of where your muse or destiny takes you. I understand that will mean she might make music I don't really care for, I will still support her following her instincts, as artists should.
