(One video I used my iPhone audio, the other I used the sound board audio...will explain why once they're posted)

Correction, they told me to go ahead and post them to my channel AND moving forward I'll use my iPhone audio for the Idyllwild videos over the Board audio Tongue

After letting a couple people listen to videos using each audio, they confirmed w/ me that the iPhone audio has a more natural, 'warm' sound. It's more cohesive as a listening experience.

It's ironic that I've searched for the 'Holy Grail' of board audio for all this time that once I finally got one, I turn back to the audio I've been working with all along (since I started using my iPhone audio)

I think the thing is, when my Zoom mic/recorder gets the feed, it comes from the microphone/instrument feeds, which, I assume, haven't had the board effects and adjustments applied to it. When I hear the audio, the voices and instruments are clear, but 'sterile'. There is no 'warmth' to them, sounding a bit like it's in a tin can.

I think what's happening here, is what you really want is the audio that comes out to the speakers after the adjustments have been applied? I'm no expert in audio, sound board audio engineering, but I could be wrong.

I've got board audio burned onto DVD's from a couple of Morgan James shows at the triple door before, but often the audio is so low that I have to watch out to not push it up so loud that the audio becomes distorted, so I really don't get a good read on the quality of the audio. At times, I'd try to combine it w/ any undistorted existing audio.

I do have board audio from one performance of Haley's that sounds gorgeous (but Haley has said she wants to use it....aka she didn't want me to use it? Tongue ).... I think the difference w/ this audio, why it sounds so good, is I got the audio several weeks after the show and the engineer was able to work on it, produce it.

The audio I got from Idyllwild is all the audios put together on stereo tracks, without any adjustment. While clear sounding (some echoing) is not the best w/o some tweaking. When producing, I think each instrument, vocal, is on it's own track so you can enhance/adjust them individually. What I got was all of them combined.

Nevertheless, maybe I'll eventually be able to access some software that can make the board audio I have sound better. But it's still good to have in the event there's too much noticeable chatter on my iPhone audio, I can use the board audio instead.

Luckily, where I had my iPhone/DSLR positioned, there wasn't that much talking, so most likely, the audio I use for these Idyllwild videos will not be the board audio.
