AMERICAN IDOL - Season ELEVEN

I just watched Idol tonight on my laptop, courtesy of: http://www.mjsbigblog.com/american-idol-...videos.htm. Unfortunately, I had to work during the broadcast.

At home I have to have Dish Network and cable TV, as Dish Network, because of local politics over here, doesn't carry local stations. Thus, since American Idol airs on our local Fox station, I have to watch it on cable as opposed to Dish Network, and other than an ancient video recorder, I have no way to tape it, as I'm also not going to get a DVR just to record on cable since other than local news, some sporting events, and American Idol, I don't watch cable enough to justify it.

Anyway, first of all, the new stage this year on Idol is absolutely amazing. It really looks great on HD. I can't wait to watch it on my big screen. In fact, I may hook up my laptop to my big screen and re-watch it again just to see how great it will look on the big screen. So kudos goes to whoever redesigned the new stage; it looks amazing!

As for as those of you that are boycotting Idol this season, the talent on the boy's side at least is pretty decent. There is going to be some fairly talented guys being sent home Thursday night.

In fact, Randy, JLO, and Steven kept bragging about the talent this year, and I have to admit I thought they were deliberately exaggerating to entice people to watch the show, but to my surprise it was fairly decent for the most part.

On the subject of Randy, apparently the TPTB must have had a talk with him, as he really went out of his way to be much more respectful, diplomatic, and tactful tonight. Of course, there was not much criticism tonight since it was the top 24, but at least when he had to, he went out of his way to be very respectful and tactful. Of course, this is just the first show, but if he keeps it up, it will be a major improvement.

Anyway, in my opinion, overall the talent is pretty decent so for and the redesigned stage is outstanding, making this one of the best debuts I have seen. I also predict that with this newly re-designed stage that Idol's television ratings may start inching back up.

Oh, by the way, I hope Haley gets a chance to perform her single on Idol this season, because I really want to see how she looks on that newly re-designed stage.

Nigel up to his old tricks...I remember DeAndre Brackensick from Season10 and his early rounds this year, and liked his voice. However, the song choice was not good last night. We (halien wife) didn't hear what we had heard before...too much falsetto. Yet, the judges started raving about it...JLo looking down at her notes...Ryan brings two young girls up on the stage for hugs...let the "Live" manipulation and pimping begin.

The judges loved everyone...the girls in the Top 24 from Season10 deserve an apology or a redo based on Randy's critiques alone. Maybe Randy can't take the haters anymore.

Our thought was if the Belieber crowd gets behind Eben...watch out.

My bottom two last night were Eben Franckewitz and Adam Brock.

Joshua Ledet gave the best performance overall last night, although he gave off a little Jacob Lusk stank.

I love the new stage. It really makes a difference.

Anyway, after hooking up my computer to my big screen this morning so I could re-watch the performances again to see how the new stage appeared on the big screen, I'm much less enthused about the level of talent than I was last night. Obviously, you can see things on the big screen you missed on your laptop.

He's near the bottom of the "raw" numbers. Apparently the "raw numbers" are the number of calls and busy signals whereas the other number uses an algorithm that accounts for things like intervals, regions and percent of busy signals, etc.

And to think I never even wanted her in the top 12 cause she growled all the time. She definitely grew a lot throughout the competition.

Apparently, some people watched Haley's “GBTC” performance, which Idol only showed a portion of, and hated it. Meanwhile, that was one of my favorite performances of the season.
