If you've just noticed the reputation number associated with your username (as a result of the recent discussion about that topic), you may have also observed as the person below did that there is a Warning Level displayed for you as well.

Your Warning Level reads
0% because you haven't been given a warning. As the moderator, I see
Warning Level: 0% for everyone because I haven't issued any warnings. Each user's warning level is displayed as a standard feature of the software. A more elegant solution would be to not show a warning level until someone has received a warning.
How It Works:
Quote: (The forum software) includes an advanced set of controls that allow you to warn users for inappropriate behavior on your forums. The warning system also allows for automatic action based on the user's warning level, as set by the forum administrator...These include post moderation, suspension of post privileges, or banning. For each, you select the amount of time this punishment will last.
This feature seems like it would be most useful on busy forums where there are multiple moderators. A moderator wouldn't have to be familiar with a user's posting history to issue a stiffer penalty than the post itself might seem to merit. If there is a pattern of violations, the software kicks in and issues a predetermined punishment.
