I wasn't sure if we were supposed to listen to it or use it for "samples" in our hip-hop creations.
The other album had chuck mangione playing his pop 70's hit and another track with the Bird on sax ? Didn't seem to add a lot to those artists which wer fun enough to hear.
As I've really enjoyed what he brings to shows I'm guess i'm just out of tune with what its all about

RE: Keith Phelps Mix Tape
I like the familiar and sometimes my mind is opened up to newer things.
Keith is only 22 too, obviously has a grasp of music and jazz, his natural sensibilities are solid (MAE had mentioned he doesn't play the keys like it's usually taught, from watching him play)...so he seems to have a natural aptitude for music already.
To me, these pieces are Keith breaking out of his own talent, and navigating new sounds and genre's, he's in school, after all, and learning, these type of things are what you're supposed to do when you're young.
I can appreciate his exploring these boundaries to see/hear beyond what he already knows.

Enthusiasms good, fawnings ok too...not that there is anything wrong with 2 guys fawning over each other. Not sure what you're getting at...
Pre-Dark side of the moon, Pink Floyd was often criticized and said to just be a bunch of hepped up noise makers, they went as far as they could with what they could and didn't care.
In "Saucerful of Secrets", they appear to just be making a bunch of noise, randomly... Many view it just as noise, others view it as a masterpiece work in music.
Another masterwork of music, electronic audio experimentation and non traditioinal music making from Pink Floyd
One of These Days
Think of how that sounded to the other stuff coming out at the same time in the early '70's...a few years later they reached their height with albums like "Dark Side of the Moon" and "The Wall".
