Fremantle controls the rights to the American Idol show broadcasts.
They don't control the rights to every performance by every Idol.

I think they're being shortsighted in removing videos related to a show with sharply declining ratings. Do they really want their present product to be the only thing people associate with Idol?

Searched the Internet archive and found this from 2/2/2011:

... Then we had a brief introduction of our next contestant Holley Cavanah who performed a presentable version of: "At Last" and at Jennifer Lopez request for another song she chose:" The Climb."

...And then it was the time to flatter Ryan Seacrest. And who was better to use then Courtney Perry who made it apparently past the first set of producers because she has a crush on Ryan. Maybe it was just me but Seacrest seemed very uncomfortable. Not to mention the girl could sing and didn't really need any duck gimmicks or Seacrest crushes.



There was a tiny segment about a guy named Caleb Johnson who could be an underdog. He barely didn't have any airtime but sounded a bit like David Cook. If he will make it I bet women will catch on that comparison and vote for the guy.

Caleb was followed by that cheesy couple....

Janelle Arthur obviously believes that the rest of the world is very ignorant. Come on! Who really thinks that people in the country are toothless? Man, I am glad you like good food. Her family has been trying to convince her to try out for the last three years. The Country beauty looks gorgeous and I forgot whether she sang alright. Either way we will see her in Hollywood.

... Casey Abrams was the last contestant tonight and he brought a cool instrument. It looks like he wants to step in the footstep of Taylor Hicks. He sounds like him, sang great and performed great but this genre is simply not selling after Idol whether he could win or not.

Well that concludes the Texas audition. I think Caleb Johnson was my favorite tonight...

Tusk, you write under the videos "If you love what you hear, please support Haley by seeing her shows, buying her songs, spreading the word" ... which gives me a good excuse to tell about my Haley-related adventure the last few days. I hadn't been to the US for a few years, so it was exciting to travel to New Mexico for a meeting. When the plane came down through the expanses of Canada into Chicago for my transfer to Albuquerque, of course I was looking down hard to spot Wheeling, thinking of Haley and you guys coming into that airport for the shindig. A Halien transfer, so to speak. Then a few days down in the splendid Southwest. Yesterday it ended and I found myself back on the shuttle to Albuquerque airport, a ride of more than an hour from where I was, chatting to a very friendly lady next to me. Turns out she was from Chicago, so I mentioned that I really like a not yet so well known singer from there, and told of the NOJO appearances and all that. And she got out her phone to make note of the name! I had to spell it while she typed it in. She said she also has an uncle who is into jazz and singers and she would make him look it up. Now I am back on the other side of the Atlantic and maybe another fan will be born if she follows up ... not very significant, just another little Haley experience in the spirit of your "spread the word" enticement!
